The suspect has been identified as Baba Baljinder Singh. Inspector Amritpal Singh said a rape case was registered on Monday following which accused was arrested by the police. According to the victim, the Baba Baljinder had been raping the victim on the promise of marrying her. Amritpal Singh Mehro, an activist of a Sikh organisation, claimed that he has a video in which Baba Baljinder has admitted that he had been raping the woman. Amritpal said Baba Baljinder Singh asked him to settle the matter for money and he had a video in which he had gone to Baba Baljinder to talk about a settlement with the woman. Robbers loot liquor vend at gunpoint Ludhiana, September 2 Two bike-borne robbers looted a liquor vend at Rudka village near Mullanpur Dakha last night at gunpoint. Satya Parkash, a liquor vend worker, said he was counting the cash when two miscreants entered into the vend. Before he could ask anything, they pointed a double barrel gun at him and asked to handover the cash. One of the robbers was wearing a turban. Immediately after the robbery, he informed the liquor contractor and the police. The police reached the spot and recorded Satyaprakash’s statement. Today, was his 68th death anniversary. Ludhianvi was one of the founders of Majlis-e-Ahrare-Islam and was the direct descendant of Shah Abdul Qadir Ludhianvi, who fought against the British colonial rule during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. In British records, he has been described as a fiery speaker who exercised considerable influence on people in the region. Woman booked in accident case Tribune News Service Ludhiana, September 2 After over three weeks, the Dakha police station registered a case against a woman in an accident case in which a pedestrian was injured. The accused has been identified as Kiran of Fazilka. Complainant Vikramjit Singh, a resident of Mullanpur, said he was standing outside Star Gym on Hambran Road on August 9 when a speeding Swift car coming from the Mullanpur side rammed into him and fractured his left leg. The car also hit six to seven motorcycle parked outside the gym and damaged the vehicles. The complainant alleged that as talks of compromise with Kiran failed, a case has been registered against her at the Dakha police station.
