The court also imposed a fine of Rs 12,000 each on the convicts. The prosecution’s case dates back to July 25, 2018. On that day, ASI Swaran Singh, along with other police officials, were stationed near Shiv Mandir, Buddha Naullah, Salem Tabri. They noticed the accused approaching from the Shivpuri side on a motorcycle, being chased by the public. On seeing the police, the motorcyclists tried to flee but lost control and fell off their vehicle. They were apprehended on the spot. Snatchers are daringly committing crimes that they even injured factory workers to intimidate them so that they dare not lodge any complaint,” said the protesting Congress workers. Meanwhile, police officials who received a memoran- dum from the Congress workers assured that the police had already been making diligent efforts to prevent loot and snatching incidents in the city. They told the protesters that in the recent past, many snatchers were arrested and put behind the bars. Four booked for duping Jagraon woman of ~15L Ludhiana, September 17 The City Jagraon police yesterday registered a case against four persons, including two women, on the charges of committing a fraud and cheating with a boutique owner. The suspects had taken Rs 15 lakh from the victim in the name of police officials. Three of the suspects have been identified as Jaspreet Kaur of Jagraon, Harwinder Kaur of Jagraon and Amarjot. The complainant, Sarita Goyal, a resident of Jagraon, told the police that Gurpreet Singh of Sidhwan Khurd had filed a complaint against her and her husband, on the basis of which a criminal case was registered against them at the Sadar Jagraon police station in November 2023. Her family was going through a state of distress due to the case. She said Jaspreet Kaur, a resident of Jagraon, who used to come to her boutique for getting her cloths stiched, took advantage of their situation and said she was wellacquainted with senior police officers and she could easily get the case registered against them cancelled. The complainant alleged that the woman along with other persons had taken Rs 15 lakh from them in the name of police officers but c m y b she failed to get the criminal case cancelled. The police said after registering a case against the suspects, further investigation was launched in the matter.
