They were also preparing fake registration certificates (RCs) of the vehicles. The police also recovered a fake police ID card from one of the suspects. Both suspects used to bring the vehicles from other states. Without obtaining no objection certificates (NOCs), they used to change their number plates. They would also prepare fake documents, including RCs, to further sell the vehicles to their clients. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shubham Aggarwal, ADCP (Crime) Amandeep Brar, ACP (Crime) Pawanjit Singh and CIA-2 chief Rajesh Sharma issued a joint statement in this regard. As per the statement issued, CIA in-charge inspector Rajesh Sharma was checking suspicious vehicles at the Dugri canal bridge on September 19, The suspects in police custody; and (below) the luxury vehicles seized from them, in Ludhiana on Wednesday. when he received a tip-off that Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh (40), a resident of Rajguru Nagar, and Amarjit Singh, alias Amar, a resident of Bhai Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar, were involved in buying vehicles from other states. On the pretext of selling the vehicles, the mis- creants buy the same from other states. Later, they would change the original registration number plates and put fake Punjab numbers on them. They would also make fake RCs but without obtaining any NOC from the Transport Department of Punjab, which is mandatory for getting Punjab registration numbers for vehicles of other states. The police officials said Arshdeep had also made a fake police card which he was using at police barricades and toll plazas. ADCP (Crime) Amandeep Brar said Arshdeep and Amarjit were going to sell a BMW car to their customer. The original registration number of the vehicle was DL1CQ7050. The suspects removed the number plate of the car and put a Punjab number on it. They were standing near the CRP Colony in Dugri where they were waiting for their customer. The police conducted a raid and caught the duo. After interrogation, the suspects revealed the name of Amanpreet, alias Sunny, of the Chawni mohalla, who was a scrap dealer. He was absconding in the case. So far, the police seized five vehicles, Maruti Jimny, BMW, Creta, Mercedes and Toyota Innova, from the suspects. Gandhi’s glasses go missing from statue Tribune News Service Ludhiana, October 2 Three masked robbers targeted a jewellery shop on the Karabara road on Wednesday. The miscreants looted silver jewellery and cash from the kin of the jeweller at gunpoint. The incident got captured in CCTV cameras installed at the shop. As per information, Rahul, uncle of the owner of Sonika Jewellers, was sitting at the shop when three robbers entered it. The miscreants came on a scooter and a motorcycle. When the robbers came, they pointed a pistol at Rahul and asked him to give the jewellery and cash kept in the shop. When he tried to oppose them, they threatened to shoot him. Later, the miscreants fled the scene after taking 100 gm of silver ornaments and Rs 2,000 in cash. Afterwards, the victim raised the alarm and informed the police. Later, officials from the Daresi police station reached the scene. On the basis of CCTV footage, the police started a probe. SHO, Daresi, Inspector Avtar Singh, said the police launched a probe and the suspects would be arrested soon. “We have got the CCTV footage. Salaudi youth dies in Italy road mishap Ludhiana, October 2 A youth from Salaudi village near Khanna in Ludhiana district died in a road mishap in Italy. The accident occurred when he was crossing the road. He was identified as 24year-old Parminder Singh. A pall of gloom descended on the village when the news of the mishap reached the region. Avtar Singh of Salaudi vil- Centre should bring back youth’s body to India, say residents lage said Parminder was his nephew. Only 45 days ago, the youth’s family had happily sent him to Italy by spending lakhs of rupees. He used to talk to his family every day. Even on the day of the accident, the victim talked to them. Later, they got a call about the mishap. Meanwhile, residents of the village said Parminder’s family makes a living from farming. His family consists of parents and a younger brother.
