Mona W HEN the timing is right, everything pans out well… A strong believer in that is actress Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, who is due to make her Punjabi film debut with Shaunki Sardar. Dheeraj Rattan as director, Punjabi film industry heavyweight Babbu Maan and popular singeractor Guru Randhawa as co-stars, all boxes ticked right, it was the character that sealed the deal for her. “I am all for the right kind of projection of women in cinema. To get a character that is substantial and beautifully written, I had to pick this role,” shared Nimrit. A law graduate, she participated in Miss India contest and made it to the top 12 finalists. Though the crown evaded her, it paved the way for modelling and acting assignments. Television show Chhoti Sardarni gave her a chance to showcase her acting abilities, and reality show Bigg Boss 16 followed. Having recently been a part of Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 (KKK), she revealed how she waited before taking it up, “I was offered the show last year as well, but I believe too much exposure isn’t good either.” A believer in experiencing life to tghe fullest, Nimrit is having a whale of time. While most stunts test her limits, it’s the ones with car sequences that she learnt to enjoy! “If you ask me what stunts were tough, there were so many. But, yes, I truly felt the high of adrenaline in the car sequences,” she informed. The tasks at KKK often involved creepy crawlies, and Nimrit shared that the trick was to psyche oneself up. I just focused on the task and chanted God’s name, till it was done.” Reality shows helped her know about her strengths and weaknesses better. One thing that she has learnt from her Bigg Boss 16 stint was to never wear the heart on her sleeves. “People aren’t interested in knowing the real you. Keep your honesty to yourself or those who respect that. If I could do Bigg Boss when I was not in the right mental space, now I am invincible,” she said. The film on her mind, she has enjoyed the first schedule in Punjab.
