The Norwegian Nobel Committee said the group was receiving the prize for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again. Ratan Tata, who passed away two days ago at the age of 86, never married and didn’t even name a successor at Tata Trusts, which approved Noel’s appointment today. The analysts said the leadership of Tata Trusts was crucial not only for its philanthropic efforts, but also for shaping the future direction of Tata Sons. Tata Trusts earns dividends from Tata Sons, but has no direct say over its operations. However, it appoints one-third of the directors to Tata Sons who have the veto power over board decisions.
