PHOTO: NITIN MITTAL 18 more travel agents booked for Shah, MP CM appointed illegally advertising jobs abroad observers for Haryana Chandigarh, October 13 The Punjab Police have booked 18 more travel agencies across the state for allegedly advertising employment opportunities on social media in an illegal manner. The action by the Punjab Police’s NRI Affairs and Cyber Crime wings comes close on the heels of registration of at least 20 FIRs against 25 such illegal travel FIRs lodged in Amritsar, Mohali, Ludhiana, Patiala agencies in August. The tally of booked illegal travel agencies has now reached 43. The Protector of Emigrants, Chandigarh, which comes under the Ministry of External Affairs, had red-flagged the advertising on Instagram and Facebook of jobs in for- eign countries by the unscrupulous travel agencies. The meeting is being held on the eve of the swearing-in ceremony at continued on page 8 c m y b Mumbai/Kaithal/ Jalandhar, October 13 The links to the murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique have emerged in Haryana and Punjab as one of the two alleged shooters arrested in the case, Gurmail Baljit Singh, is a resident of Kaithal while Jalandhar’s Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar is learnt to have provided logistics to the killers. A Mumbai court remanded Gurmail in police custody till October 21 and directed the police to conduct a bone ossification test to determine the age of the second arrested accused, a native of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, who claimed he was a minor. The third shooter, Shiv Kumar, also from Bahraich, was on the run, the police said. Gurmail (23) had a prior criminal history, including a murder case against him, and remained in jail for four years, the police said. His family members said they had disowned him 11 years ago and have called for exemplary punishment for his actions.
