It had carried out a robbery at gunpoint in a house in Rupnagar district on Sunday. Three members of the gang were arrested. As per information, of the three suspects, two had stolen a revolver, cartridges and jewellery from a house in Machhiwara. Then the gang used the same to commit a robbery in Rupnagar district. The trio were identified as transgender Renu Mahant of Bahlolpur village, Nirmal Singh Gopi and Jagdeep Singh of Indira Colony in Machhiwara. Samrala DSP Tarlochan Singh said on August 21, a theft incident was reported in the house of Manmohan Sharma at Guru Nanak Mohalla in Machhiwara and thieves had stolen a revolver, five cartridges and jewellery from the place. The DSP said on Sunday, Renu along with Nirmal and Jagdeep barged into a house in Chamkaur Sahib and looted gold earrings from the woman at gunpoint. Acting on a tip-off, the Machhiwara police arrested the three suspects. The police also recovered the stolen revolver, cartridges and looted jewellery from them. Now, remand of the suspects would be sought to ascertain their involvement in past loot incidents. — TNS Manav Mander Tenders expired over year ago; residents allege overcharging by staff Tribune News Service Ludhiana, November 11 It’s been more than a year that tenders of six parking lots in the city had expired but the Municipal Corporation (MC) is yet to reauction the lots. Current tenders are being extended from November last year. Initially, three-month extension period was given but it was later extended. The lots which are awaiting auction are the Sarabha Nagar market, Bhadaur House, Feroze Gandhi market, BRS Nagar market, Model Town Extension and Multi-storey parking at Zone A. Residents have been complaining of rude behaviour and overcharging by employees working at the lots. Seeing a drop in the number of customers due to the rude behaviour of the employees, market associations had also volunteered to take up the charge of the the parking areas. Parminder Kaur, a senior citizen of Sarabha Nagar, said she had been visiting the market in the area since it was constructed. A shopkeeper from the Model Town Extension 22-year-old woman falls in washroom, dies Ludhiana, November 11 A 22-year-old woman, Nitika Kumari, died after slipping and falling in the washroom in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar here on Monday morning. Nitika, who belongs to a migrant family, lived in Ludhiana for several years. She and her father worked at a local factory. Preliminary investigations suggest she suffered from an illness. Nitika slipped and fell, causing severe head injuries. She was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors declared her dead. Officials from Police Division 6 reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy. The preliminary probe indicated it was an accident,” SHO Rajesh Thakur said, adding that the the post-mortem examination was scheduled for Tuesday morning. Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson for the state VB said the case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Sushil Kumar, a resident of Gagandeep Colony, Bhatian Bet, and working as a general manger in Pitamaas Private Limited Company, Ludhiana. Man caught stealing cycle, beaten up by passers-by Ludhiana, November 11 People caught a thief redhanded while stealing a bicycle and badly beat him up after tying him to a pole on the Kailash Nagar road. High drama prevailed on the road for more than 30 minutes. Instead of handing over the suspect to the police, the people thrashed him. Some residents of the area also made a video of the incident and circulated the same on social media. The owner of the bicycle, Hemraj, said when he came to a shop in Kailash Nagar, Waraich Market, to buy milk, a youth stole his bicycle that was stationed outside the shop. As some passers-by noticed the theft and caught hold of him. Meanwhile, people present at the scene alleged that the PCR vehicle did not patrol in the area, due to which incidents of theft are increasing day by day. Interestingly, when the police reached the place, some youths, who were beating the thief, ran away.
