They have been discharging duty in and around the hospital for day and night. Dallewal was taken to the hospital in the wee hours of November 26 and since then a large posse of police personnel remained deployed there. A senior police official told The Tribune “We have been discharging duties at the hospital in 12-hour hectic shift. Not only lower rung officers but also higher rank officials, including ADCPs and ACPs, have to stay at the hospital for 12 hours. Six senior officials and a number of inspectors start duty at 8 am and end at 8 pm. After our shift, night duty officials and force remain present at the hospital. Hundreds of police personnel, including two reserve police battalion, are kept at Cops deployed outside the DMCH in Ludhiana on Wednesday. HIMANSHU MAHAJAN standby outside the hospital to tackle any emergency.” The official said: “Since we have been discharging duty to maintain law and order at the hospital, I and other officials have cleared office files from there on Wednesday as our office work pendency is rising.” The DMCH has become like a police cantonment as police officials can be seen deployed in and outside the hospital maintain the law and order. A number of personnel are deployed at the entry gate of the emergency ward while a sizeable number of officials, including ADCPs, ACPs and inspectors, are present at the main gate of the DMCH. Even on main roads, which lead to the hospital, a special naka has been laid with a purpose to keep an eye over the movement of farmer unions as the police had been suspecting that they might reach outside the hospital to hold a protest. Furthermore, the police are not allowing anyone to meet the farm leader. On Tuesday, Feel good quotient some farmer leaders had gone to meet him but no other visitors, who wanted to meet the farmer leader, were allowed inside the emergency ward. On Tuesday, city-based social activists Dr Amandeep Singh Brar and Kuldeep Khaira had also repeatedly requested senior police officials for a brief meeting with Dallewal but the police did not allow. Both activists had waited for hours to seek police nod to enquire about the health status of Dallewal. Notably on Tuesday, Amarjeet Singh Rarra, state president of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Azad), who met Dallewal, had said: “Dallewal is sticking to his words, he has already started his fast unto death. He is not taking anything to eat. He has no health issues. PHOTO: ASHWANI DHIMAN Tribune News Service Ludhiana, November 27 A case has been registered against a person for allegedly attempting to possess a property in Barewal Awana, here, by creating fake documents. The complainant, Gurcharan Singh, a resident of D-Block, Sarabha Nagar, alleged that Charanjit Singh, a resident of Raghbir Park, created fake documents to grab his 444-sq-yard plot in Mouja Barewal Awana. Gurcharan Singh told the Commissioner of Police about the matter, and the police were directed to take action. After investigating, the Sarabha Nagar police on Tuesday registered a case against Charanjit. The police have started an investigation in the matter. Investigating officer ASI Umesh Kumar said the suspect would be arrested soon. The police were investigating the matter and further action would be taken accordingly. Tribune News Service Ludhiana, November 27 The Khanna police on Tuesday registered a case against three persons, including a couple, who committed a fraud of Rs 15 lakh with a man by promising him to employ his son in the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The suspects have been identified as Ajit Singh, his wife Paramjit Kaur, residents of Nand Singh Avenue, here, and Amarjot Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib. The complainant, Narinder Puri, a resident of Shivaji Park, New Delhi, told the police that as his son was looking for a government job and the three suspects had assured to provide a job in the MHRD, Delhi, and in lieu, they had taken Rs 15 lakh from him. After getting the money, the suspects had failed to provide any job and also refused to return the money. ASI Sukhwinder Singh said after conducting an inquiry, a case was registered against the trio on Tuesday and further investigation was launched. They have been identified as the then head constable Sandeep Kumar (now ASI) posted as Nayab Court in Ludhiana Court Complex and a retired ASI, Bhupinder Singh, then posted at the Focal Point police station. Investigating officer ASI Surjit Kumar said a case was registered after inquiry and further probe was launched. Both of them faced action for misplacing the files pertaining to a theft case. Notably, after inquiry in the case by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), a probe report was sent for approval for the registration of a case to the office of DCP (Rural), who further sent the inquiry report to the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, recommending the registration of a case. In a latest case registered by the Ludhiana rural police, a man posing as a police officer from Canada duped a retired senior lab assistant of Punjab Agricultural University of Rs 4 lakh. He told the complainant to send money, else his son would be imprisoned for life in jail for causing a road accident and killing a man. The complainant, Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Chowkiman village in Jagraon, told the police that his son Rajinder Singh stays in Canada. On October 18, he received a call from some unknown number and the caller posed himself as a police officer from Canada. “The caller told me that my son had caused a road accident in Canada in which a man has died, Man gets life term Give appropriate attention, Prez asks for wife’s murder DELAY IN PROVIDING DIRECT ACCESS TO HOUSE OF MARTYR SUKHDEV THAPAR CMO after nephew writes to former Tribune News Service Ludhiana, November 27 After the kin of martyr Sukhdev Thapar wrote a letter to the President, raising the issue of delay in providing direct access to the house of the martyr, the President’s office has further forwarded the complaint to the Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Secretary, Punjab, and asked them for appropriate attention. Meanwhile, Ashok Thapar, who claims to be a nephew of martyr Sukhdev Thapar and also the National president of the Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust said the birthplace of Thapar, located in Naughara, Ludhiana, had been awaiting a direct route from the main market for years. The trust had been pursuing the matter with the local administration, municipal corporation and state government. The Trust had recently written a letter to The ancestral house of martyr Sukhdev Thapar in Ludhiana. the President, raising the issue of delay in providing a direct route to the birthplace of Shaheed-e-Azam Sukhdev Thapar and renaming the renovated Ludhiana railway station after the name of the martyr. Thapar said despite numerous meetings with administrative officials, the matter had been pending for years. The trust had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to clear legal hurdles for c m y b providing a direct route. The President’s office had taken cognisance of the matter and directed the Chief Secretary of Punjab to provide appropriate attention in the matter. Legal Correspondent Ludhiana, November 27 The Court of District and Sessions Judge Harpreet Kaur Randhawa has sentenced Mohammad Ravani, a native of Jharkhand, and currently residing in Alamgir, here, to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Shakeel Bibi. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000 on the convict. The case was registered on May 11, 2020, at the Dehlon police station, based on a complaint by Sukharaj Singh, a resident of Dhandra village. The complainant stated that on May 7, 2020, he was going towards his fields when he noticed a woman’s body lying near a well. He informed the police about the incident. The police registered a case against an unidentified person and initiated an investigation. During the probe, it was revealed that the accused murdered his wife due to suspicion of her having an illicit relationship. After gathering Suspicion of illicit relationship led to crime sufficient evidence, the police arrested and named the accused in the case. The police investigation revealed that the accused killed his wife based on unfounded suspicion of infidelity. The incident highlights deep familial disputes and the accused’s state of mind. During the court trial, the accused pleaded innocence and requested leniency. However, the prosecution presented substantial evidence and witnesses, proving that the murder was committed by the accused. After hearing arguments from both sides and examining the evidence, the court found the man guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment. In its judgment, the court emphasised the importance of strict action in such heinous crimes to deter similar offences in society. now, my son has to undergo life imprisonment. The suspect also told me that if I want to save my son, I have to send Rs 4 lakh in a Federal Bank account number. Later, when I talked to my son, I was shocked to know that he did not met with any accident, rather some unidentified miscreant has committed a fraud with me”, he said. Investigating officer ASI Sherwinder Singh said after registering a case under various sections of the BNS, further investigation was launched. Earlier also, cases of fraud committed with similar same modus operandi have come to the fore. The Punjab Police have been issuing advisory to make the people aware about prevalent cyber frauds, still people are falling prey to such frauds. MC chief inspects multi-storey parking lot Ludhiana, November 27 Riding pillion on a twowheeler, Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal conducted surprise inspections to check the condition of multistorey parking lot near Zone A office of the civic body and sanitation in old city areas on Wednesday. He said the MC would take up repair works at multistorey parking lot for facilitating the public at large. While conducting inspections in different old city areas, Dachalwal issued directions to ensure cleanliness. Further the staff concerned was also directed to check the attendance of sweepers on a regular basis. The MC chief said the multi-storey parking lot near Zone A office was a major parking lot in old city areas and a large number of residents visit the place on a daily baais.
