His talent was soon recognised by filmmakers in Mumbai, and he moved base to Mumbai as a set designer for Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra. “I did the set design for Rang De Basanti, Aks, Vashu Bhagnani’s Om Jai Jagdish, amongst many projects,” he shared. The exhibition is on till February 18 at 105 arts, Sector 11. For the last three months, every day has been about winning the trophy and now that it is with me, it all feels surreal. As Himani, a designer for the past 15 years, says, “We are increasingly embracing bold, artistic designs, with cocktail and reception gowns often featuring three-dimensional, asymmetrical layers. These gowns make a statement with textures and silhouettes that play with depth and movement. For instance, asymmetrical cuts can create a dramatic look, while layered details—like ruffles, tulle or pleats—add volume and dimension. Fabrics might be manipulated into floral appliqué, geometric patterns, or cascading folds, giving the gown a sculptural quality.” The use of intricate details such as 3D applique, sculpted fabrics, and dynamic draping makes each gown not just a piece of clothing, but an artistic creation—perfect for a bride who wants to make a statement at her reception. This modern approach allows brides to express a more fashion-forward aesthetic while remaining elegant for an intimate or celebratory reception.
