A lone pharmacist assisted by a group of students are taking care of providing medicines to patients. Keeping in view long queues and unmanaged crowd of patients outside the pharmacy, which result in inconvenience to them and those coming along with them, the Health Department has now decided to construct a waiting room. Daily on an average, 2,000 patients visit the hospital as it is one of the major government hospitals of the district. Medicines are given free of cost due to which a huge rush is witnessed at the pharmacy window of the hospital. The worst affected are patients coming for consultation and children and the elderly. The decision has been welcomed by patients and their kin visiting the hospital. As per the plan, a waiting room would be constructed near the main gate entrance of the hospital in place of the Minor raped, impregnated by juvenile Tribune News Service Ludhiana, February 15 A case of rape of a minor girl has come to light in the city. Now, I will again have to wait for hours to see the doctor to understand the dosage,” said Geeta, a patient from the Tajpur Road area. According to Senior Medical Officer Harpreet Singh, the summer season is approaching and they intend to construct the waiting room by March so that people waiting for those who had gone to pharmacy for getting medicine did not have to wait in the sun. “At present, there is a shed outside the pharmacy but that is proving inadequate and a waiting room will prove beneficial. It can also prove beneficial for those who have to wait for OPD patients and reports and other reasons,” he said. Man found dead in Jagraon Ludhiana, February 15 The body of a man was found under mysterious circumstances near abandoned shops of the Old Grain Market in Jagraon on Saturday. Acs per eyewitnesses, the deceased had a severe head injury and he was drenched in blood. The police were informed after which a team from the Jagraon City police station reached the scene. After conducting a preliminary probe, the police sent the body to a government hospital for autopsy. Sushil Kumar, a local resident, said he was a resident of Moga district and had been staying in the area for the past four years. He used to beg at a nearby temple and sleep in abandoned shops. The police suspect that his death might have occurred due to a fall from a ladder. He was yet to be identified. — TNS Youth fled after giving her pills to abort pregnancy When the victim got pregnant, the youth gave her abortion pills. When the girl’s health deteriorated after consuming the pills, she informed her family about the matter. Following which, she was taken to a hospital and her five-month pregnancy was aborted. After giving the pills to the victim, the suspect fled the place, fearing that her family might lodge a complaint against him and he may be arrested by the police. The victim’s father told the police that his daughter told him that the suspect befriended her by luring her on the pretext of marriage. He would often call her to his room where he used to develop physical relations with her. He said the youth also gave abortion pills to his daughter due to which the foetus got aborted. The suspect after raping and impregnating his daughter had vacated his room and fled the place. The Sahnewal police on Friday registered a case against the suspect under Section 64 of the BNS and Section 6 of the POCSO Act. ASI Mewa Singh said the girl’s five-month pregnancy was aborted after she was forced to consume abortion pills. A probe was on to trace the whereabouts of the suspect and he would be arrested soon. c m y b Another case filed against two travelagentsforcommittingfraud Tribune News Service Ludhiana, February 15 Already facing several cases of fraud, the Ludhiana police registered a fresh case against a travel firm for committing another fraud. The suspects were identified as Amit Malhotra and Veenu Malhotra, residents of Phase 1, Urban Estate, Dugri. They are owners of Global Way Immigration, situated near Ishmeet Chowk, Model Town. The complainant, Tilak Raj, a resident of Kulliawal, told the police that he wanted to settle his daughter Vandana abroad. He contacted the firm and the owners had assured to arrange a visa for his daughter. They had taken Rs 6.50 lakh from him but NINE CASES REGISTERED IN PAST In January this year, four FIRs against travel frauds were registered against the firm, Global Way Immigration, while in September 2024, five FIRs were registered against the owners. The suspects were identified as Amit Malhotra and Veenu Malhotra, residents of Phase 1, Urban Estate, Dugri. failed to arrange the visa. The complainant said he had repeatedly urged the travel firm owners to return the money but they kept making hollow promises. When he could not get his money back, he lodged a police complaint last year and after investigation spanning months, a case was registered against the duo. A case under Sections 420 (fraud) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 24 of the Immigration Act against the suspects. In January this year, four FIRs against travel frauds were registered against the firm while in September last year, five FIRs were registered against the suspects. On August 12 last year, while protesting against the firm, a couple, Hardeep Singh and Amandeep Kaur, from Dhuri in Sangrur had climbed atop a water tank in Model Town Extension here as the duo was also duped of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of arranging a visa to the UK. Two killed in road mishaps Ludhiana, February 15 The city witnessed two road mishaps in which two persons had died. The drivers of two vehicles were identified and booked. Paramjit Singh, a resident of the Rahon road area, told the police that on February 14, he, along with his brother Chaman Lal, was crossing the road near the Basti Jodhewal chowk when a speeding motorcycle (PB10HL8116) hit his brother. He suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot. The motorcyclist was identified as Gurpreet Singh. In the other mishap, Deep Kumar said his younger brother Mani Kumar drives the Tata Ace vehicle of his employer. On Friday, when his brother reached Dehlon, a truck hit Tata Ace. His brother suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The trucker was identified as Aktar Ali. — TNS Woman kicked in stomach, newborn dies Ludhiana, February 15 A newborn baby died a few hours after birth. The victim’s mother blamed a woman and her two daughters for kicking her in the stomach which led to the death of the child. On the complaint of the woman, a case was registered against them. The suspects were identified as Sunita and her two daughters Antima and Archana, residents of Mahavir Colony. The complainant, Maya, who is also a resident of Mahavir Colony, told the police that her husband Suresh Ram works as a mason. On January 19, she along with her husband went to the house of Sunita to collect money for the work done by her husband. When they asked Sunita to pay the dues, the suspect along with her daughters started abusing them. They even kicked the woman, who was pregnant, in the stomach. The complainant said on January 20, she was admitted to the Civil Hospital where she delivered a premature baby girl on the intervening night of January 20 and 21. “My newborn daughter had died after I developed some complications related to pregnancy caused due to the assault by the suspects.
