The fire was so intense that it caused huge damage to the property, including the destruction of household goods and equipment. Fortunately, the prompt response of the fire brigade managed to douse the flame. The fire brigade officials said the cause of fire was yet to be ascertained and investigation were on. Tribune News Service Ludhiana, April 28 A major fire broke out in a factory-cum-residence at Bandeyan Mohalla near Dal Bazaar on Monday morning. Since the area was densely populated, panic spread in the area. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, the owner suffered a huge loss in terms of goods and machinery. The owner, Amit Chopra, and his mother narrowly escaped the blaze, which was brought under control after a struggle of threehour by the firemen. The latter said that they had faced a lot of difficulty in reaching the spot as the road leading to the factory was narrow and the fire brigade could not reach the spot. To combat the inferno, firefighters had to lay pipes from Daresi Road, where the fire tenders were stationed, to the affected area. According to fire officials, approximately 1,200-1,300 feet of pipes were used to reach the spot. When he opened the shutter, the fire had engulfed the whole shop. It was controlled with the help of two fire brigade vehicles. A large number of education centres are located on several floors in the education hub. Car catches fire in Moti Bagh area A car caught fire in Moti Bagh area of Jagraon in Ludhiana district. Seeing the smoke coming out of the car, some people informed the fire brigade, which reached the spot on time and controlled the fire. However, by the time the team reached, the front part of the car had been burnt and damaged completely. Car owner Dalip Singh said that the car was parked outside the house in the sun since morning. Due to the intense heat, the car reportedly got heated up and caught fire. The fire spread so fast that the entire car got engulfed in it in no time. Protest against Pahalgam attack Ludhiana, April 28 In protest against the Pahalgam incident, the Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal, along with a group of traders, observed ‘Black Day’ today by tying black bands. The traders said that there would be no trading with Pakistan. The mandal was led by state general secretary Sunil Mehra, district secretary Ayush Agrawal and BJP leader Harkesh Mittal. They appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to capture the terrorists, who killed 26 innocent persons. The trade leaders said that no amount of condemnation was enough for this heinous attack as it had wounded millions of hearts. — TNS Youths raise ‘Pakistan zindabad’ slogans, booked Ludhiana, April 28 After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and to express anger against Pakistan, some people spread the national flag of Pakistan on a road near Sector 32, Chandigarh road, on Sunday and were hitting it with shoes. When the protesters left the place, some people on an Activa and a car came there and picked up the Pakistani flag from the road and started raising slogans of “Pakistan zindabad”. When the protesters came to know about the development, they immediately reached the spot. After this, there was a scuffle with the people who were raising slogans in favour of Pakistan. After heated arguments with the people, those who were raising slogans left the spot after threatening and demanding proof of the terrorist attack. Later, in a complaint to the police division 7, Arvind Kumar, a resident of Sector 32A, said that he and some of his friends were protesting against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam by placing the flag of Pak- istan on the Sector 32 main chowk and were hitting it with shoes. After they left, some mischievous persons came and removed it. He said when they came to know, they immediately reached the spot. “Two youths who appeared to be Sikhs started quarrelling with us. They raised slogans of ‘Pakistan zindabad’ and fled after demanding proof of Pakistan’s role in the terror attack in Pahalgam,” added the complainant. A case has been registered. — TNS
