Due to this, the signal and track got jammed. As the signal was not passed, Hemkunt Express, which was going from Jalandhar to Jammu, remained stuck for at least 20 minutes. It is suspected that unidentified persons could have blocked the track changing system with an intention of overturning the train. However, their attempt failed due to prudence of the Railway personnel on board the train and at the railway station. Keshav Singh, Station Master, Tanda, said Deputy Station Master Ashish Kumar was present on duty last night. He gave signal to the train going from Jalandhar to Jammu to stop at Tanda station around 1.38 am, but the cross signal on the railway track was not passed. On seeing this, he sent pointsman Ram Kumar to check the railway track. When the pointsman went to the signal pole, he found that the track changing point near it was blocked with iron plates and stone pieces. The injured include the car driver and two youths riding the scooter. One of the injured sustained serious head injuries. Both the vehicles were extensively damaged in the collision. The car, driven by Manohar Lal, a supervisor at Ankur Hospital, was navigating the area when an Activa suddenly appeared from the opposite direction. In an attempt to avert collision, Lal swerved, lost control of the car and ended up overturning the vehicle. Lal said despite his efforts to avoid a direct hit, the car collided with the scooter, knocking both riders to the ground. Eyewitnesses rushed to help the injured and immediately arranged for their transport to a nearby hospital. Manohar Lal, who also suffered injuries in the crash, said, “The road was empty when suddenly the Activa came in front of my vehicle. I tried to steer away, but the car overturned and collided with the scooter. I got hurt too.” Lal said his family was based in Una. He said Ankur Hospital authorities were informed shortly about the incident. The police arrived at the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. According to the investigating officer (IO), preliminary findings suggest that the driver might have lost control over the car due to a manhole on the road. “It appears that the car went out of control while its driver trying to avoid collision with the scooter and then overturned, hitting the two youths riding the two-wheeler,” the IO said. The injured Activa riders are residents of Ravindra Nagar. One of them suffered serious head injuries and remains under observation, while the other sustained minor injuries. Jagjivan, father of one of youths, reached the hospital shortly after being informed about the accident. The police said both the parties were receiving medical treatment and their statements would be recorded once their conditions stabilised. “Based on their accounts and medical reports, further legal action will be taken,” the IO said. “The damaged vehicles have been taken into police custody for investigation,” he said. Meanwhile, the incident has once again drawn attention towards road safety concerns, where sudden obstructions and poor conditions have become common hazard for motorists. about it. Officials suspect that perpetrators motive behind jamming the track changing system might be damaging the train, which failed. If a high-speed train passed through a jammed track changing point, it could have overturned, officials said. Two arrested for cybercrime Phagwara, April 29 The cyber cell of the Kapurthala police have arrested Prashant Jurail and Yashodha Devi, both residents of Uttar Pradesh, for impersonating as social media influencer Kumar Gaurav, alias Garry. Gurpreet Singh Gill, Superintendent of Police (HQ), Kapurthala, said both were arrested on the complaint of Kumar Gaurav. He is an influencer who provides information for travelling abroad through his social media accounts. Both the accused made fake social media accounts of Kumar and took money from people by impersonating him. — OC Additional staff to be deployed at driving test tracks to facilitate people: Minister Phagwara, April 29 Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Monday said two additional employees would be deployed at every driving test track across the state to assist people in applying for learners and permanent driving licences. He said orders regarding this had already been issued to the State Transport Commissioner, and soon 64 more staff members would be deployed at Punjab’s 32 driving test tracks. These employees would help citizens to apply for learners and permanent licences strictly at the government-prescribed fee, he said. Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar interacts with a person in Phagwara. During his surprise visit to the driving test track in Phagwara today, the minister interacted with the people who had come there for licence processing and listened to their concerns. He also summoned SDM Jashanjeet Singh and RTO Irvin Kaur to the spot.
