CHANDIGARH | TUESDAY | 13 MAY 2025 Actor Amit Sadh, who will be seen in the cinematic adaptation of Rahul DaCunha’s famous play Pune Highway, says he thrives on challenges... His way or Tom Cruise surprises fans in London’s iconic building Highway! Mona A CTING happened due to a challenge! And this is that ‘bring-it-on’ trait in him that helped Amit Sadh cement his place in the entertainment industry. Twentythree years down the line, the actor has done it all — television soaps, reality TV, films and OTT. Traversing mediums with élan, Amit now has an enviable body of work that includes cinematic gems like Sultan, Gold and Breathe. Amit is all enthused about his upcoming film Pune Highway, a murder mystery woven in a friendship stor, slated to release on May 23, “Khandu is a regular guy who wishes well for everyone but he is also ambitious.” The film, which marks theatre veteran Rahul DaCunha’s debut as a film director also has Bugs Bhargava Krishna in the driving seat. How was it working with two directors? “To be honest, it never felt like two people are directing this project. They were so much in sync. From day one, we were clear about what we were expected to deliver!” The film’s team has many theatre veterans apart from its directors. There is Jim Sarbh and Rajit Kapoor. Amit loves theatre, though he has not acted much on stage. “I love watching plays, but for me acting has largely been confined to the screen.” In Pune Highway, he finds a gripping narrative that explores the fragility of friendships when tested by unforeseen circumstances. “Playing this role has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in my career. It’s a story that speaks to anyone who has ever valued friendship,” he shares. Talking of friendships, the Kai Po Che! actor wouldn’t name anyone in particular, but shares how friendship adds meaning to his life. “I am fortunate to have made friends world over!” City connect People call Mumbai the City of Dreams. For me it’s been a city that makes one come to terms with reality. I came here without any connection, without much knowledge. I have found the people, the path, and the purpose – all here. That said, I love Chandigarh and the geris I have had! For Amit, life is not a constant flow of highs and lows. “I am still working towards my high. Yes, I have done some wonderful projects, and I am chasing more!” As for the lows, he has none actually. “I consider the tough times as my preparation ground. For a bystander, what may look like a downfall, to me it is a journey upward. Look, from being a nobody I am here in the industry for all these years, working with good people and doing great work!” When not facing the camera, Amit loves reading and travelling. At times on to six books simultaneously. “Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays with Morrie and Stories of Your Mission Possible Hollywood star Tom Cruise never leaves a chance to wow his fans with his action avatar. Past weekend, he visited London to receive the honorary BFI Fellowship. Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning will hit the theatres on May 23. Before that, Cruise’s film will be screened at Cannes. The movie will play Out of Competition on May 14 with Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie, and the cast walking the famous red carpet. Amit will also be seen in another film, Main, where he plays an encounter specialist. But all eyes are on Pune Highway for the moment. “It’s a blend of suspense and emotional depth with a universal theme. The film must work so that we can bring more such projects!” Virushka spotted Minutes before he announced his retirement from Test cricket on Monday morning, star batter Virat Kohli was spotted at the Mumbai airport with his wife and actor Anushka Sharma.
