The operation was conducted by the Special Cell under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suhail Mir, and DSP (Detective) Gurinderpal Singh. During routine patrolling near Khassa village, the Special Cell team intercepted Pradeep Singh, a resident of Hardo Rattan village, and recovered 255 grams of heroin from his possession. On interrogation, he revealed the names of his two associates, Jagrup Singh of Verka and Karanbir Singh of Nangal Vanjha Wala. Acting swiftly on the information, the police arrested both individuals shortly afterward. A case has been registered against the three at the Gharinda police station under Sections 21(C), 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act. The police said further investigation is underway to examine the forward and backward links of the arrested accused. Anyone else found involved in the drug network will also face strict legal action, they added. Amritsar, December 2 The Amritsar police claimed to have cracked a brutal murder case with the arrest of three persons involved in the killing of 22-year-old Ajaypal Singh in the Kot Mit Singh area. The three arrested accused have been identified as Prem Singh, alias Premu Nihang (20), Jaswinder Singh, alias Jassa Nihang (45), and Rupa (32). Ajaypal Singh was attacked with sharp-edged weapons by a group of assailants on late Friday evening. According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother Manjit Kaur, the incident stemmed from a dispute involving Ajaypal’s sister Komalpreet Kaur and her husband Samuel Masih, alias Happy. Manjit Kaur stated that Samuel had developed illicit relations with a woman, Rupa, who formerly lived in their neighbourhood. Despite objections from his wife, Samuel had been staying at Rupa’s residence for the past two days. On Friday, Manjit Kaur, her son Ajaypal, his wife Komalpreet, her younger daughter and Ajaypal’s friend Sunny, alias Shahana, went to Rupa’s house to confront them. The accident occurred when a speeding car hit the motorcyclist head-on. The impact was so severe that the victim’s right leg was severed, and due to excessive bleeding, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. The deceased has been identified as Arvinder Singh (42), a resident of Sanghna Colony, Bohru (Amritsar). He was on his way to duty at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Khemkaran, when the speeding car coming from the opposite direction struck his motorcycle. His right leg was severed on the spot. Tejbir Singh, brother of the victim, said Arvinder was taken to a private hospital in Amritsar, where doctors declared him dead. After the crash, the car driver fled the scene. The Bhikhiwind police, led by ASI Jaspal Singh, reached the site and collected evidence. ASI Singh said a case under Sections 106(2), 281 and 324(4) of the BNS has been registered on the statement of the victim’s brother. During the argument, Rupa reportedly called two more Nihang relatives who arrived with swords. The complainant alleged that Rupa asked to attack Ajapal’s family. He collapsed on the spot and died due to excessive bleeding, while the accused fled with their weapons. Acting swiftly, police teams traced the accused based on secret inputs. All three were arrested from the Sultanwind area between November 29 and 30. The police said none of the arrested individuals have previous criminal records. The operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP (Detective) Ravinderpal Singh, ADCP-1 Vishaljit Singh, ACP (South) Parvesh Chopra and SHO (Sultanwind) Inspector Balwinder Singh. The police said further investigation is underway and efforts are on to trace any remaining suspects and recover the weapons used in the crime. During interrogation, investigators learned that Bunty had been working as a sharpshooter for the gang and had carried out targeted killings at their direction.
