PALME D’OR FOR PETER JACKSON The Cannes Film Festival officially started on Tuesday night with a more muted tone than in years past, with fewer A-list Hollywood celebrities on the red carpet and politics largely absent from the opening ceremony speeches. Elijah Wood walked the carpet ahead of presenting Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson with an honorary Palme d’Or for lifetime achievement. Kareena Kapoor’s infamous catfights with Bipasha Basu during the making of Abbas-Mustan’s Ajnabee was not manufactured by a marketing team. Kareena made some objectionable remarks about Bipasha and Bobby Deol had taken Bipasha’s side. Kareena never spoke to Bobby again. Raveena Tandon’s notorious catfight with Karisma Kapoor during the making of Sanjay Gupta’s Aatish was for real, and Raveena admits it. “It was true. We really didn’t get along.
