Spirituality amidst conflicts Responding to inquiries about spirituality amidst conflicts, Kapur offers a philosophical perspective, “I simply accept human conflicts as inevitable burdens, yet individuality plays a significant role.” Emphasising individuality and introspection, Kapur says beyond the complexities of existence, “lies a search for spirituality, defining who I am at the core.” Discovering music Filmmaking in the era of OTT The essence of Kaveri Amidst discussions about family and filmmaking, Kapur illuminates the essence of his daughter Kaveri. “Her spirituality is her most remarkable trait,” he declares proudly. Kapur admires Kaveri’s capacity to confront challenges. “She tack- Growing up in a household pulsating with creativity, music naturally became Kaveri’s primary form of expression. By the age of 12, she was certain that music and song-writing were her true calling. “With unwavering support from my singer mother and my father’s keen musical ear and writing skills, I embarked on my journey,” Kaveri reminisces. Finding stories in music For Kaveri, the genesis of her lyrics often lies in unexpected places. “The discovery of my stories often occurs after writing them, and they frequently aren’t my own,” she reveals. Kaveri’s song-writing process is a journey of self-discovery and empathy. World of possibilities Forty years on, Shekhar Kapur is ready with a follow up on his debut film and that will see Kaveri as an actor. Masoom... The Next Generation is in fact inspired by events surrounding Kaveri and other teenagers who find it easier to bond with grandparents than their parents. “It was when my daughter began discussing anxiety that I met another 18-year-old, who shared insights into her relationship with her grandmother. I delved into conversations with other young individuals about their connections with grandparents. Surprisingly, it was easier for them to discuss anxiety with their grandparents. Witnessing my daughter, Kaveri, overcome her own anxiety and emerge as a confident individual inspired me to cast her in the role.” Need for change What’s the missing link, we ask? “Something is not working in India. We don’t talk about the quality of the film, but only box-office numbers. We have the talent, our actors are good, technicians are good, but our ambitions are not great and that’s the problem.” The big decision Recalling his pivotal choice after Bandit Queen, Kapur shares, “It was huge decision- Up next for Jennifer Actress Jennifer Garner is set to make the audience laugh with Mrs. Claus, a comedy in which she is set to star. Kaveri Kapur on being directed by her father In light of evolving cinematic landscapes, Kapur talks about the challenges posed by OTT platforms. “Series like The Family Man propelled Manoj Bajpayee into stardom, showcasing his exceptional talent. There are many such examples. However, there’s a concern among filmmakers about OTT platform heads assuming directorial control, which undermines the filmmaking process. It’s problematic when individuals with no filmmaking experience dictate creative decisions.” He adds, “For Masoom, I had no prior filmmaking experience or education. With no access to resources, I crafted the film independently, with only the assurance from my producer about the music.” Thrill of acting Kaveri is ready to step into the world of acting with Masoom... The actress is heading to Muscat to start shooting for the same. The project marks Sunny’s second collaboration with Prabhudeva. Meanwhile, on the work front, Sunny Leone is currently hosting the 15th edition of the popular dating show Splitsvilla. — IANS Sikandar Kher heads to US for premiere of Hollywood debut Monkey Man Global appeal Actor Sikandar Kher is all set for the premiere of his first Hollywood film, Monkey Man. The highly anticipated movie is scheduled for a premiere at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, followed by its release in the US on April 5. The action-thriller follows the journey of a young man portrayed by Dev Patel, who embarks on a mission to seek justice for his mother’s death, caused by corrupt leaders. However, his quest for vengeance takes an unexpected turn as he becomes a champion for the oppressed and powerless, transforming into the titular Monkey Man. Alongside Sikandar Kher, the film features Dev Patel, Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Makarand Deshpande, Ashwini Kalsekar, and others. Notably, Dev Patel not only stars in the SOBHITA AND SIKANDAR film, but also makes his directorial debut and serves as a producer. Sikandar Kher shared, “Excited to reunite with the entire cast and crew, and see the film with everyone together at the premiere. It was a long one for us. We got a phenomenal response at SXSW conference last month, which was pretty iconic in itself; there’s a sense of excitement for the film’s release now”.
