LUDHIANA | THURSDAY | 13 MARCH 2025 PHOTO: RAVI KUMAR Thank you, IIFA! Sonu Nigam hits back at IIFA 2025 after being snubbed from nominations Playback singer Sonu Nigam has voiced his disappointment after being snubbed from the Best Playback Singer (Male) nominations at the IIFA Awards 2025. The event, held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, did not include Nigam in the nominations despite his massive hit song Mere Dholna 3.0 from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 being among the many chartbusters last year. The nominees in the category included Arijit Singh, Karan Aujla, Diljit Dosanjh, Baadshah, Jubin Nautiyal and Mitraz. Ultimately, Jubin Nautiyal won the award. Nigam took to his Instagram account on Wednesday to share a screenshot of the nominee list along with a sarcastic caption that read, “Thank you, IIFA... After all, you were answerable to the Rajasthan bureaucracy.” The singer didn’t stop there. He also played Mere Dholna 3.0 in the background, possibly hinting that the song deserved at least a nomination. In no time, fans and colleagues chimed in the comment section to show their support to the singer. Composer Amaal Malik commented, “Such is the world that we live in... Mazaak banake rakh diya hai (They have made it a joke).” One user wrote, “You are incomparable, @sonunigamofficial ji. For us, you are the music.” — ANI Model-actress Navneet Kaur Dhillon is ready to mentor women entrepreneurs through an initiative called WEED programme She means Vinya Singh O NCE a reigning beauty queen and now a powerhouse entrepreneur, Navneet Kaur Dhillon, winner of Femina Miss India World contest in 2013, is proving that success knows no limits. With grace, intelligence and an undeniable passion for innovation, she has transitioned from the dazzling world of pageantry and films to the dynamic realm of business. At the Chandigarh Press Club recently, Dhillon officially launched her latest venture, Women Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (WEED) programme. The initiative is set to redefine the local commercial landscape by providing women entrepreneurs from tier 2 and tier 3 cities with mentorship, funding and networking opportunities to help their businesses prosper. Dhillon talked about her life, values and business ventures. What inspired you to transition from modelling and acting into entrepreneurship? I have always been passionate about women empowerment. I conceptualised WEED as I wanted to do something con- business crete to empower women. I feel that as a pageant winner, my exposure and experience will help me reach out to women with start-up ideas and encourage them to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. What advice do you have for women who want to start their own business? You should do your research right and believe in your passion. If you believe in yourself, there are higher chances you will achieve them. Ignore the negativity around you, there might be many people who want to discourage you, but if you watch your own back, there’s nothing that can hold you back. ‘Always aim to get better’ How does your fitness regime impact your energy levels and overall well-being? Anubha Arora, who has joined the cast of Vivek Agnihotri’s The Delhi Files: The Bengal Chapter, says regular exercise keeps her energy levels high. How do you manage to stay in shape despite your busy schedule? After all these years, I have realised that fitness has to be your lifestyle. It’s just like taking a bath or having food. Initially, I had to really push myself each day, but now I get restless if I haven’t had a good workout session. I always motivate myself by choosing interesting forms of fitness like dance, pilates, gymnastics and calisthenics. I constantly update my skill set. Anubha Arora says she indulges her sweet tooth, but always in moderation Do you find time to hit the gym regularly or do you mostly work out at home? I always make it a point to go to the gym during my nonshoot days. However, when I’m shooting, it’s hard for me to find the energy to workout, so I try to do a quick session at home or go for a run. Being an actor, there’s often pressure to look fit. What’s your take on that? Do you follow a strict diet to maintain your fitness? Although it’s a personal choice for every actor, I feel I enjoy looking at myself onscreen when I am looking my best. So, that drives me more. And the best thing about our profession is that people of all sizes and fitness levels are needed, so it’s anything but pressure! I can’t resist food, especially sweets. After understanding my own weaknesses, I never go too strict with my diet. Instead, I allow myself to indulge at times, but in moderation. Mostly, I stick to home-cooked meals and a little bit of ‘unhealthy stuff’ once or twice a week. I feel more active, energetic and confident in my skin when I’m working out regularly. Doing it first thing in the morning clears my headspace for the entire day ahead. What keeps you motivated to stay fit? Would you like to share something about your recent film projects? The short film, Knot, is close to my heart. It’s directed by one of my university seniors, Abhay Parveen Gupta, who’s a young director deeply passionate about his art. Teaming up with college-mates is always nice. The minute they asked me if I would like to co-produce, I was quite excited to do so. It’s a beautiful film and once it finishes its international festival circuit, it would be out for everyone to watch. thing out there will make you feel stressed, but it’s important to balance yourself and holistic wellness plays a major part in it. You have to think right, eat right, breathe right and exercise! You own a yoga studio too, right? I love yoga. The idea of starting a community of yoga-lovers inspired me to come up with a yoga studio in Chandigarh, like we have it in Mumbai. Who inspires you? My mother. She has been an inspiration behind everything that I’ve done. She has always been rock solid. And been there for me, for whatever I have wanted to do in my life. She never discourages me for anything. She is the first person to say ‘yes why not’ when I wanted to begin my entrepreneurship journey. What are your core values? Discipline is very important to me, along with honesty, and loyalty towards my work and the people around me. How did your passion for holistic healthcare begin? Any projects that you’re currently working on? My journey with yoga started in 2017. The film combines archival footage with dramatised scenes to recreate the intense atmosphere as Can you share two fitness tips for staying healthy? I am no fitness guru, but two things I personally believe can help. Firstly, don’t start with something that you know you can’t continue for a long time, whether it’s a fitness journey or a certain diet plan. Plan a regimen that’s more sustainable for you. Secondly, always aim to get better. Whether it’s one extra push-up or one extra step, be better than yourself each day. That is the key to my fitness. c m y b journalists reported live from the scene. It earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay and has received critical praise for its gripping storytelling.
