GRENADE SEIZURE Nikhil Bhardwaj Tribune News Service Ludhiana, November 3 As investigation in the recent recovery of a Chinese live grenade from the city found the Pakistan-backed ISI terror plot to disturb the law and order situation, the Ludhiana police have planned to issue a lookout circular (LOC) against one of the suspected key conspirators Ajay Malaysia. He is currently hiding in Malaysia and he is said to be working for the ISI. Ajay’s brother Vijay was also brought from a Rajasthan jail on production warrant for questioning to establish the extent of his role in the terror plot. As per police sources, Ajay has no criminal background. A police team has also visited his home in Rajasthan. It has learnt that Ajay travelled to Malaysia around 2021-22. He rarely speaks to his family and works as a security guard there. Driven by the lure of money, he became involved in the crime of hand grenade smuggling. When Ajay returns to India, only then the entire conspiracy behind the grenade attack can be exposed. As per the police, Ajay was plotting a bomb blast in Ludhiana, which was foiled by the police. His target was a crowded place. He wanted to target a Chhath Puja site, where thousands of people were expected to attend. Therefore, the police are investigating the case from several angles. According to the police, Ajay initially asked Ajay from Muktsar to find someone to deliver the grenade from Amritsar to Ludhiana. When he failed to do so, the former assigned two inmates from the Muktsar jail, Ramnik Singh alias Amrik, and Parvinder Singh, alias Chidi, to carry out the task. According to their instructions, Kuldeep Singh and Shekhar Singh took the grenade to Ludhiana, where they were supposed to deliver it to someone else. However, last week, the police apprehended them during a checking near Shivpuri Chowk. During interrogation, Kuldeep revealed that Ramnik and Parvinder, who were also lodged in jail, had asked him to do the work and promised them Rs 50,000 each. Notably, earlier, a case under the Explosives Act was registered in the matter along with various sections of the BNS. Notably, earlier Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh and a foreign terrorist, Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh Dalla, were charged under the UAPA by the Punjab Police. Meanwhile, sources said Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma had been personally supervising the investigation of the ISI-backed terror plot, which was foiled by the alert Ludhiana police. Six suspects, including three brought on production warrant from Muktsar and Sri Ganganagar jail, were arrested in the case by the police and charges of UAPA were also slapped on them. Several inmates would be brought on production warrant for questioning from various jails of the state and neighbouring states. It took three fire brigade vehicles to extinguish the fire and it was brought under control after about three hours. However, by then, the clothes stored in the shop had already been destroyed. Fire brigade officials said the cause of the fire was not yet known. They said the shop was closed and it was possible that a short-circuit could have caused the blaze. They said streets in Gandhi Nagar Market were narrow, making it difficult to control the situation.
