Corridors in the entire Bhadaur House area are encroached upon with stocks of shopkeepers giving no way to pedestrians to move. Parking lots are also encroached upon by keeping bags and parking auto-rickshaws to load/unload stocks. Commuters are also facing difficulties due to the same while passing through the stretch. Three open fire at Bizman lands in e-rickshaw driver police dragnet in Tribune News Service Ludhiana, December 7 Three car-borne persons opened fire at an e-rickshaw driver on Hambran Road. While leaving, the suspects also threatened the man that they would kill him. The victim is a son of former sarpanch of the Congress. The complainant, Bikramjit Singh, a resident of Kapoor Singh Wala, told the police that on December 6, he was going on his e-rickshaw to drop a passenger, along with her small child, at Chaharan village. Vehicles set afire outside house; four minor boys arrested Ludhiana, December 7 Some miscreants set vehicles parked outside a house in Janakpuri on fire on Saturday night. The fire quickly spread to the house. Occupants of the house were sleeping inside when their neighbours called them. Afterwards, the victims ran outside to save their lives. Four minor boys were reportedly arrested by the police for committing the crime. The fire severely burnt the exterior part of the house and the health of a 90-year-old woman got deteriorated due to suffocation. CCTV cameras installed outside the house captured the miscreants. The house owner, Amarpal Singh, said around 2:30 am, some miscreants came close to the vehicles parked outside the house and set them on fire. After coming to know about the incident, they ran outside for safety. In no time, the fire spread to the front portion of the house. They tried to douse the flames by pouring c m y b water. Four of their vehicles were damaged in the fire. “If there had been a delay of a few minutes, there would have been casualties,” said Gurpreet Kaur, a woman. “We barely saved our lives after neighbours informed us fraud case about the incident,” he said. ADCP Sameer Verma said four minor boys were arrested in the case. The suspects were not drug addicts rather they resorted to mischievous activity. They had no enmity with the house owner. — TNS Tribune News Service Ludhiana, December 7 The Sarabha Nagar police claimed to have arrested an industrialist, Surinder Singh Riyat, a resident of BRS Nagar, here, in a major land fraud case. A case was registered in October 2024 against Surinder’s brother Jasbir Singh Riyat on the complaint of Chamkaur Singh of Baba Nand Singh Nagar. Both brothers are auto spare parts manufacturers. SHO, Sarabha Nagar, Aditya Sharma, said a complaint was filed in this regard in July 2024 in which the complainant had alleged that Jasbir Singh Riyat had entered a deal regarding a land at Ayali Kalan village with Chamkaur but the suspect, despite taking the money, failed to transfer the full ownership. On January 27, 2025, the case was recommended to be cancelled with the approval of the then Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana. The SHO said during investigation, Surinder Riyat was also nominated on October 11, 2025, and he was arrested recently while his brother Jasbir was still at large in the case.
