While some are planning calm and relaxing getaways, others are looking forward to welcoming the year with family and friends in a simple, heartfelt manner. For a few, the New Year will begin amid work commitments, while others prefer to end the year surrounded by nature, travel, and moments of self-reflection. KRITIKA KAMRA I’m going to Jaisalmer to bring in the New Year. My friends and I have been wanting some winter sun and good AQI! Rajasthan has everything — great food, music, culture and unbeatable hospitality. SHWETA TRIPATHI SALMAN FILM ‘DISTORTING FACTS’? Now, the Global Times, a prominent staterun Chinese media outlet has criticised the film claiming that it was ‘distorting facts’. I love surprises, so I travelled to Jaisalmer to surprise the entire cast and crew of Mirzapur. After spending some time in Jaisalmer, I headed to Phuket, Thailand, with my friends. I brought in my New Year celebrations a little early, as I am shooting for my next project in Bhopal, which means I’ll be having a working New Year. However, since the 31st and 1st are non-working days, my husband Cheeta is joining me here and together we shall welcome the New Year at one of Bhopal’s beautiful heritage sites. (Clockwise from top): Saiee Manjrekar, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, Shweta Tripathi & Adarsh Gourav PARUL GULATI This New Year, I’m keeping it simple. I will be in Tbilisi. No big plans, just wander through Christmas markets if they’re still around, try my hand at ice-skating, sip hot chocolate and actually doing nothing for once. I’m really looking forward to welcoming the New Year feeling rested, present and a little lighter. GULSHAN DEVAIAH I’m planning to spend some quiet time by myself — cook a good meal, take naps, catch up on pending scripts, and finally address a few small decisions I’ve been putting off. ABHISHEK BANERJEE ‘Salman has zero pretension’ Chitrangada Singh, who is set to feature alongside Salman Khan in Battle of Galwan, says the superstar is unapologetically himself, which is a rarity in an industry where “many people wear masks”. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia of Shootout at Lokhandwala fame, the much-anticipated war drama is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict between India and China. “He is very tuned into what his fans want him to be, and he is exactly what his fans love (him for). I don’t think he pretends to be anything else. The most amazing thing about him is that there is zero pretension... I’ve not come across anyone in the industry, who has zero pretension, it’s this man. He is exactly who he is. He will speak when he wants Chitrangada Singh on Battle of Galwan co-star to, he will be quiet for as long as he wants to be, if he wants to work out now, he will go and work out now,” she said. Without divulging details about her role in the film, Chitrangada praised Khan for his spontaneous style of acting. “He’s so secure, you could say anything and he loves to improvise. That’s the best thing. It’s like an everevolving scene till it’s finally okay. Till then, it just keeps evolving, I love that. It’s just so much fun because everyone’s having fun. He changes a few things. “So, there’s this spontaneity in the scene, which is so refreshing and he does it so effortlessly. When you do so much work or you’re constantly thinking or working on something, then it becomes effortless. So, I think he manages to do that even now.” Chitrangada revealed that she was earlier set to team with Khan for a movie, which the superstar was going to produce but the film never saw the light of the day. “There was a film that he wanted to produce with Govinda ji. It was a remake of a Marathi film that Mahesh Manjrekar was going to direct. This would be like 2016-17. I don’t think we ever discussed work after that,” she said. Battle of Galwan is set to release on April 17, 2026. —PTI c m y b My wife Tina and I are all set to welcome the New Year at our new home in Goa. Making it even more special, Divyendu Sharma and his wife will be joining us as we ring in the New Year together. SAIEE M MANJREKAR This New Year, I find myself returning to Matheran with a few close friends—a place that has always felt like a second home. I’ve been coming here since childhood with my family and friends, and over time, it has quietly become a part of who I am. With no cars and no rush, Matheran moves at its own gentle pace. Welcoming the New Year here feels deeply right a return to simplicity, authenticity, and the memories that continue to shape me. SAIYAMI KHER New Year is always celebrated at home with my family and friends. It’s a usual ritual. My friends and I make a bonfire, PARUL GULATI, GULSHAN DEVAIAH & SAIYAMI KHER do some barbecue, set up tents and camp outside. Since we both love the beach and the lively, festive atmosphere, Goa feels like the perfect place for us to ring in the celebrations. VISHAL JETHWA I’ve always celebrated New Year with my family, and being together at the start of a new year feels truly special. It’s a reminder that we’ll continue welcoming each year together. I don’t believe in big, flashy parties; I prefer celebrating quietly with family, either at home or by stepping out together. This year, though, things are a little different because my mother won’t be with us, she’s currently in London, thoroughly enjoying her holiday. NIMRIT KAUR AHLUWALIA This New Year is going to be a little different for me as I’ll be welcoming it on the sets in Bhopal while shooting for my upcoming project. It’s the first time I will be working on New Year, but honestly, it feels fulfilling. Being surrounded by the cast and crew, doing what I love, gives me a sense of purpose and happiness.
