Meanwhile, applications have been invited for the remaining 179 flats and interested buyers are visiting the LIT office to complete formalities. However, applicants have raised serious concerns over the unavailability of project brochures. They point out that the brochures — which are yet to be released — should clearly outline all terms and conditions for prospective buyers. Despite this, the office is asking applicants to purchase a nonrefundable application form for Rs 500 and deposit the earnest money, which is refundable. One of the interested buyers, Isha Goyal, said she visited the office and was asked to fill the application form and deposit the earnest money for desired MIG/HIG flat. “When I As many as 179 flats to be allotted through draw of lots on Apr 13. FILE asked for the brochure detailing the project completion timeline, payment schedule and instalments, the officials said it would be available next week. I cannot come again from Pathankot just to collect the brochure. A friend of mine from Chandigarh was also interested in investing in the project. But without brochures, how are we supposed to know terms and conditions?” she questioned. The LIT has stated that the remaining 179 flats will be allotted through a draw of lots scheduled for April 13. Another buyer, Karan Walia, from Basant Enclave said while officials’ claims may be genuine, brochures should have been printed for the convenience of applicants. “We have several doubts. We cannot keep visiting the office to get them clarified. All assurances are verbal. Tomorrow, terms and conditions may change and we will have no recourse,” he said. RTI activist Arvind Sharma has written to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, seeking clarity on the Atal Apartments project, which has already missed several deadlines. The housing project is coming up in Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar on Pakhowal Road over 8.80 acres. The scheme was launched in 2011, and in 2016, 110 flats were allotted through draw of lots. It was put on hold again in 2017-18 and the construction resumed in 2021. After years of delay, buyers remain uncertain, particularly over whether “Survey Scheme” applicants — who had deposited Rs 10,000 — will receive a preferential quota. While some applicants have taken refunds, many have not, hoping to secure benefits under the scheme. For MIG flats, applicants are required to deposit Rs 1.95 lakh, along with the application form while for HIG flats, Rs 2.45 lakh is to be deposited. The earnest money is refundable but the application form fee of Rs 500 is non-refundable.
