He further said the ongoing strike of patwaris and kanungos was not only affecting administrative work, but also causing a loss to the state exchequer. “The government should intervene and take strict action against all those on strike and interfering in VB’s inquiry,” he added. Surinder Saini of the Jalandhar Welfare Society said: “The government should come up with some mechanism so that public work is not hampered whenever the government employees go on strike.” He further added that the government should also release appointment letters of selected candidates for the post of patwaris. He said the candidates are running from pillar to post seeking their joining letters, but the government was not paying attention. “If the deserving candidates are given the chance to serve the public, not only would corruption go down, there will also be improvement in public services. The victim was identified as Ashwani Kumar (50), a carpenter by profession. Shubham, victim’s son, alleged that he was killed by his sister-in-law Kaushalya and her two daughters — Jyoti and Nikku — who have been booked by the police on the charge of murder, though no arrest has been made till now. In his statement, Shubham told the police that they had a minor fight over the property dispute, but Kaushalya and her daughters started hurling abuses at his father and started attacking him with stones and bricks. Nawanshahr, May 9 Ex-Congress Nawanshahr MLA Angad Saini on Monday rejoined the party, which he had quit just weeks ahead of the Assembly elections to contest as an Independent candidate. The development took place after PPCC chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and working president of PPCC Bharat Bhushan Ashu visited his place this morning. They had breakfast at his place after which the ex-MLA and his supporters were roped in back into the party. Saini had been denied ticket in the party even though he was a sitting MLA. Several industrialists took part in the meeting and apart from giving suggestions, they also raised their long-pending issues. Tajinder Singh Bhasin, another industrialist, said there should be no requirement of change of land use (CLU) or NOC for the land which is reserved for industries in the master plan. “After 1991, there was no proper focal point for setting up industries in Jalandhar. The only provision is to purchase as per master plan 2001-2030, but we have to get the CLU/NOC even for industrial land reserved for industries as per the master plan. We had held a meeting last year with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal where this issue was discussed, to which he had agreed and had assured us that there would be no requirement of CLU or NOC if the government came to power,” he apprised the minister, adding that now it was their duty to implement the same. The industrialists also asked the minister to provide proper infrastructure in industrial areas. They said there was no proper funds or planning for the basic infrastructure in these areas. So, in the upcoming budget, focus should be on this issue. Ravinder Dhir from the Khel Udyog Sangh also mailed his concern to the minister. He also raised the old issue of 18 per cent GST on sports goods and gym equipment accessories. Notably, such high GST on sports goods has been troubling the sports unit owners for a long time now, but this issue has not been resolved so far. Lack of technical manpower and Research and Development (R and D) centre is another matter that has been written in the mail.
