TNS Chandigarh, January 15 In order to save patients the ordeal of waiting in long queues for registration, the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGI) has installed a vending machine at the Advanced Cardiac Centre through which they can generate a token. This token will enable the patients to get their registration card made after a slip bearing a number is generated by the vending machine. After obtaining the token, patients can relax in the waiting area for the token number to flash on the display. Once the number appears on the screen, they can approach the window for registration. On any given day, the cardiac centre witnesses a huge rush of patients, who start queuing up outside the OPD registration counter as early as 6 am. The patients can now generate a token from the vending machine and when the OPD registration counter opens, the same can be shown at the counter to get the card made. This way, patients will no longer have to stand in the queue for long periods of time. ❝Oncehospitalsoftwareis introduced, manual token system will be integrated with online system, allowing patients to get token for doctor’s room as well. If the Congress stays away, the SAD’s lone vote may make or mar the plans of the two contesting parties to get their Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor elected. However, such charges should not exceed 7% (including transaction charges) in any case. SERVICE CHARGES 0.85% 3.85% 7% CURRENT LOWER CAP UPPER CAP considered for procurement, wherever appropriate, especially in high value cases,” stated the order. The UT is going to follow these directions while recruiting outsourced staff. In some UT wings such as the Municipal Corporation, only .1% service charges in the procurement of manpower outsourcing service is being taken. “This was leading to instances wherein contractors were asking for Rs 10,000 each per year from those hired by them. Because on .1% profit they had nothing much to earn and were solely dependent on getting fee from hired staff in form of processing fee,” said an official. However, the civic body had recently mandated that if a contractor got changed, the manpower would remain the same and no charges would be taken from the existing staff. The staff have been facing the problem of delayed salaries.
