The accused had been identified as Parwinder Singh, a resident of FCI colony, Jalandhar. Jagtar Singh, a resident of Jaffarwal village, had complained to the police that the accused was driving his vehicle fast and negligently on September 9 that hit his brother Lal Chand, injuring him seriously. A case has been registered against the accused. A case under Sections 281 (rash driving on the public highway), 125(a), 125(b) (causing grievous hurt), and 324(4) (mischief) of the BNS was registered against the accused. OC MIGRANT KILLED IN ACCIDENT Phagwara: One migrant youth was killed when a speeding bike hit him near Nanak Nagri Chiherru on Saturday night. The deceased Sanjay Rishi was walking towards his job place when the bike hit him.The police have registered a case and arrested bike driver Anish Raj residing in Miherru. The body of the deceased has been sent to the local Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. Farmers held up traffic on the road for three hours, holding dharnas at the Dhannowali Rail Crossing, Phagwara Sugar Mill Chowk and Phillaur on Sunday. The arrest comes following an investigation into a robbery case in August. According to Commissioner Sharma, Surjit Thakur of Bhupinder Nagar, Maqsudan, lodged a complaint that on August 31, he was robbed by three persons while riding his scooter in Patel Nagar. Thakur, who works at Sabji Mandi, Maqsudan, reported that the assailants threatened him with a pistol and robbed him of Rs 40,000. An FIR was registered. During investigation, the police raided Ram Janki Nagar near Sheetal Nagar in Maqsudan where they apprehended one of the suspects Pankaj and recovered a .315bore desi katta along with two rounds. Pankaj’s accomplice, identified as Ashu, remains at large. The accident occurred near Munda village where a Punjab Roadways bus collided with a scooter, killing both on the spot. The victims have been identified as Santokh Singh and Sukhdev Singh, driver booked both residents of Shamshabad village near Nurmahal. They were heading towards Jalandhar to get medicine when the accident took place. As they reached the main road near Munda village, a Punjab Roadways bus coming from Nakodar hit their scooter c m y b allegedly due to the negligence by the bus driver. The collision was so severe that both died on the spot. An ASI along with a police team reached the spot, impounded the bus and sent the bodies to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered against bus driver Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Rajia village in Barnala district, at the Sadar police station. Ashish (13) firecrackers, in pipes to burst crackers. Tortured by in-laws, man dies by suicide Tribune News Service Nawanshahr, October 13 Charanjit Singh (34) died by suicide in Kathgarh, Nawanshahr, on Saturday. He reportedly consumed sulphas tablets. Before taking this extreme step, Singh recorded a video and also put up a status. His father Madan Lal, in his complaint to the police, said his son who was married to a woman of Phagwara six years ago was not happy. The deceased had a five-year-old son. After marriage, Singh was living away from his parents. “His in-laws used to beat him up. My daughter-in-law was not living with my son for the last two months. On October 11, when my son went to her home to take her, his inlaws thrashed him. This left my son heartbroken. We never expected he would take this extreme step,” his father fur- ther alleged in his complaint. It was only after watching his status that the family got to know that their son had consumed poisonous substance. “When we reached his house, he was struggling for his life and died on the way to the hospital,” the father further stated. A case has been registered against three persons, including Singh’s wife and her parents. The police are yet to nab the accused.
