OC Gang of robbers busted, three arrested with weapons Tribune News Service Jalandhar, October 7 The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have busted a gang involved in a robbery by arresting three of its members and seized country-made weapons from their possession. According to Commissioner Swapan Sharma, the accused entered a shop and assaulted a shop worker, threatening him with deadly weapons, including a khanda (traditional sword) and a country-made pistol. The incident led to the registration of an FIR on October 4 under the BNS and the Arms Act. The arrested individuals have been identified as Karan Yadav, a native of Bihar now residing in Mubarakpur Shekhan, Gurpartap Singh from Punjabi Bagh in Jalandhar, and Pistol with a magazine, two khandas and a scooter seized Ritekesh Kumar, also from Bihar, currently residing in Gadaipur here. The road, which had been lying in a poor condition for over two years, became a source of inconvenience for residents, prompting the Defence Colony Residents Society to take the matter to the court. The last time the road was repaired was during the Assembly elections, after which it was left to deteriorate. The case was filed by the society, represented by its general secretary, Harbinder Singh, through their counsel advocate Vikram Dutta. The residents, frustrated by the inaction of the MC authorities despite repeated complaints, sought legal intervention, urging the MC to fulfil its responsibility of maintaining the road. Narinder Singh (58), a resident of Jainpur village, complained to the police that he was running a commission agent shop in Sultanpur Lodhi grain market and received a phone call on September 9. The caller introduced himself as his old labourer and offered to provide the labour force and invited him to his village Saidpur Jhirri village. The operation, supervised by halqa GOs and executed by SHOs in collaboration with an Emergency Response System (ERS) team, focused on ensuring public safety during this busy period. With the city gearing up for both festive celebrations and an electoral event, the police have prioritised creating a secure environment for residents. “A key focus of the drive was the identification and apprehension of suspicious elements.
