Dua, a resident of Jalandhar Cantt, was struck by a speeding truck while he was returning home on his scooter. The impact was so severe that his body was torn into multiple parts and scattered across the road. The police later gathered the remains and sent these for postmortem. His last rites were performed today at the Harnamdaspur crematorium. The dispute began Tuesday morning when Surat Singh, father of Manpreet Singh, had an altercation with Rajesh Tiwari, a salesman at Lovely Plywood. Hours later, a group of around five to 10 individuals allegedly stormed into Lovely Plywood’s office, assaulted manager Prithvi Chandra and abducted him in vehicles. As per information, the CCTV footage of the incident had been handed over to the police, showing the perpetrators taking the manager against his will. Though the Bar Association has followed up with the authorities, yet all representations have been ignored, leaving with no other option but to express discontent. Class IX girl jumps off water tank, survives Nawanshahr, November 14 In a shocking incident, a 15year-old girl jumped off a water tank in Nawanshahr. The girl studying in Class IX in a government school, who took the extreme step to end her life, survived and sustained injuries on her leg. The incident took place at 2 pm when the girl was going to her home with her friends when suddenly she changed her route, kept her bag on a wall and climbed the water tank after which she jumped off. A video of her was also going viral on social media. The police said she got saved because she didn’t fall directly on the road, but got hit by a pipe first before hitting the road. SHO, Nawanshahr, said the parents didn’t say anything. “The girl is in a hospital. We will ask her in the morning,” he said. — TNS
