The suspects have been identified as Rakhi Mittal and her husband Rajesh Mittal, residents of Shivaji Nagar. They are yet to be arrested in the case. City-based realtor Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Hargobind Nagar, said on November 28 while he was parking his Toyota Fortuner outside his house, the couple came on a Honda Activa scooter. They had to cross the road. The duo started heated arguments with him. He did not make any argument rather the woman, Rakhi, created a ruckus by blaming him for parking big vehicles on the road and blocking the way for people, he said “I had requested the woman to stop arguing but she continued the same and abused me. Later when my two sister-inlaws came out, she attacked them badly. My wife and me were also attacked by the couple, who barged into our house. CCTV cameras captured the incident, he said. But to our surprise, the police had registered a case against me and my four family members on November 28 without con- ducting proper investigation. When we got to know about the registration of the FIR against us on fake allegations, I lodged a complaint with the DCP, Ludhiana, and on whose orders, now a cross case was registered by the police against the couple and I was assured that justice would be delivered,” he said. A short-circuit in its engine was said to be the cause of the fire. The car badly damaged due to the fire. According to people, the driver saved his life by jumping out of the burning car. As per information, the incident occurred outside Vardhman Mill on the Chandigarh road. The car was going towards the Jamalpur chowk from Samrala Chowk when a sudden spark from the engine caused the fire. Before the driver could came out, the fire broke out and he had to rush out to save his life. On receiving information about the incident, a fire brigade vehicle and officials from Police Division 7 reached the scene. The fire personnel brought the fire under control. Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal has said any kind of violation on December 3 will be dealt with strictly. The administration has asked the Municipal Corporation and the police department to monitor the issue and no violation will be allowed on that day. At the same time, many farmer organisations have extended full support to the campaign of ‘Kale Pani Da Morcha’ and stated that they would reach Ludhiana to be with the activists who are trying to save the Buddha Nullah from pollution. Farmers, including Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Surjit Singh Phul, Dilbagh Singh Gill and Manjit Singh Paner, have extended support to the campaign and have assured to stand with the activists,” said Kuldip Singh Khaira, an activist. Six of them were arrested by the police and raids were being conducted to nab others. The assailants were led by city’s notorious gangster Vishal Gill. Initially, the police were not sure about the identification of the assailants but during a probe, when the police checked the CCTV footage and conducted investigation, the gangster was seen in it. The suspects have been identified as Anmol Gill of Amarpura, Divyanshu of New Subash Nagar, Chirag Yagota of New Hargobind Nagar, Kartik Baggan and Yugyanshu from Ghati mohalla and Suvansh Jalan of Hargobind Nagar. Vishal Gill, Jatin, alias Nanna, Kaku Shooter, Mohana Kanojia, Krishna Gill, Ashu, Suraj and four unidentified persons were at large in the case. In the attack, me and my colleague suffered injuries. The suspects also slapped me and pelted bricks at both of us,” he said. He said the suspects were saying that they had come to take revenge from their opponent Gagan, who escaped from the restaurant. The assailants were saying that they have no fear of police or law and nobody can stop them. The Assistant subinspector said on Saturday after registering a case against the youths, six were arrested by the police and a sharp weapon and a motorcycle were also seized from the suspects while raids were being conducted to nab the other miscreants who were at large. Station House Officer (SHO), Tibba police station, Inspector Bhagatvir, said the assailants include gangster Vishal Gill, Suraj and others having criminal background. Raids were being conducted to arrest other suspects. Gangster Vishal Gill and some other assailants were already wanted by the police in some criminal cases, the SHO said. The Station House Officersaid the FIR was delayed as both policemen were injured and their statements were awaited. Tribune News Service Ludhiana, December 1 About 12,000 candidates, including 3,090 in the morning shift and 9,888 in the evening shift, got themselves registered in Ludhiana to take the Punjab State Teachers Eligibility Test 2024 exam, which was held across the state on Sunday. Of these, 11,506 candidates appeared for the test. According to information, total eight centres were made for the first shift and 28 centres were made for the candidates appearing for the evening shift. The first shift was held from 10 am to 12:30 pm while the second shift was from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. DEO (Elementary) Ravinder Kaur said eight centres were made for the candidates appearing for first shift. She said over 90 per cent of the candidates had appeared for the test. Multiple Choice Questions with one mark each were given to the candidates and they were satisfied that no negative marking will be done. Paper 1 was for candidates for Classes I-V while Paper (2) was for candidates for Classes VI-VIII. In paper 1, there were 150 questions based on child development, prodigy, Pun- jabi, English, Maths and environmental studies. Every section had 30 questions each and for science and maths teachers, there were 60 separate questions each. To qualify, candidates need to achieve at least 60 per cent (90 out of 150) marks. 2 groups exchange fire over eviction of physically challenged tenant from room Tribune News Service Ludhiana, December 1 Two groups opened fire at each other over the issue of removing a physically challenged tenant from house at Dhandari Khurd on Saturday night. One of the groups was led by SAD leader Paramjit Singh, alias Tonna, while the other was led by landlord Ranjit Boparai. Four persons suffered bullet injuries in the exchange of fire and they were undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the city and said to be out of danger. Station House Officer (SHO), Focal Point, Inspec- SAD leader among suspects booked in case tor Amandeep Singh Brar, said a dispute erupted after a physically challenged tenant was forced to leave the room owing to non-payment of rent to the landlord, Ranjit. After SAD leader Paramjit came to know about the development, he, along with his aides, came in the support of the tenant and had heated arguments with the landlord. Even the landlord and his aides had also challenged the opposite party. In no time, heated arguments took a ghastly turn when Paramjit and Ranjit opened fire at each other. One of the bullets hit the servant of Paramjit while three persons from the Ranjit’s group suffered bullet injuries. The injured received bullet injuries on their legs and arms only due to which they survived, the SHO said. Brar said both suspects had used their licensed weapon and fired around five bullets. A cross case of attempt to murder was registered against both parties and raids were being conducted to nab them, he added.
