The youth, Jaskirat Singh Jassa, was critically injured and was rushed to a hospital where he died during treatment. The deceased was running a share market trading office in the name of Punjabi Trader here, where he also gave training and in December last, he closed the office and shifted to Jagraon. He was a successful trader, having huge fan following on social media. He had even procured a licensed weapon for his safety due to alleged threats received from a person, who got him killed. The attackers stopped the SUV and dragged the victim out of the vehicle and attacked him with sharp weapons. The suspect posing as a close aide of wanted gangster Goldy Brar, demanded huge money from the businessman else threatened to send his shooters to the home of the complainant. The complainant, Ekjot Singh Chawla, a resident of Sarabha Nagar, in a complaint submitted to the police stated that since July 23, he had been receiving repeated threat calls through WhatsApp from some anonymous person on his mobile number. “The caller had been threatening me by saying that he has complete details of me and even of the recent bought property. He told me that in case I don’t agree to them, they will show me some samples. They even threatened Caller poses as close aide of gangster Goldy Brar me by saying that they will send shooters to my home in Ludhiana and my native place in Jalandhar. He mentioned his name as Ankit Pahelwan, claiming that he has links with gangster Goldy Brar. The deceased has been identified as Sai Dhruv Kapoor (20). He was a resident of Suncity on Amloh Road in Khanna. Dhruv’s father, Karan Kapoor, works as a financial adviser. The family was not financially strong but for the sake of their son’s dreams, they sent him to Russia for studies. He returned after six months due to visa conditions. Last year, he was again sent to Moscow on a study visa. As per information, on Sunday, Dhruv called home and informed his family that he was going to the seashore with his friends. In many areas, trees have either tilted precariously or are on the verge of collapsing but no preventive action has been taken by the authorities so far. In Sarabha Nagar’s Block I, a portion of a tree recently fell on the road due to adverse weather conditions. Though debris was pushed aside to clear the traffic, another part of the tree remains dangerously tilted and is now entangled with an power pole. “If the other part of the tree falls, it could prove fatal. Worse, if power lines snap, they could pose a risk of electrocution. We approached the area councillor, who told us to get the tree cut on our own. He alleged that the police picked him up from his house without any reason and kept him at the Jagatpuri police post for three days illegally and did not allow him to attend his ailing daughter, which led to her death for want of medical treatment. The migrant even levelled allegation against a private person for beating him up inside the police post. The deceased has been identified as Ananya. She was a student of Class III. When information about the family keeping the body outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office was received, officials of the police station concerned reached the spot. The girl’s father, Vaidyanath, alleged that he knows Sunny, a youth from his village in Uttar Pradesh, My police custody caused death of ailing victim, he alleges; ADCP denies allegations who had kidnapped a minor girl from the city on the pretext of marriage. Vaidyanath was also booked in the case for helping the youth in abducting the girl and he was called to the Jagatpuri police post for investigation on July 29. But after knowing about his ailing daughter, who was suffering from cancer, as claimed by him, he was allowed to go home after some time. “The mother of the kidnapping victim works at the house of a person against whom Vaidyanath had levelled allegation of beating him inside the police post but the person had come to the police post in support of the girl’s mother and he had not beaten up Vaidyanath inside the post. The police will investigate his allegation and action will be taken on merit,” the ADCP said. Jain marks investigation to SDM (West) Meanwhile, DC Himanshu Jain marked an inquiry into the allegation levelled by Vaidyanath to the SDM (West). “The SDM will probe the matter and submit a report and further action would be taken accordingly,” he said.
