The strong wording, part of the Tianjin Declaration adopted at the SCO summit in China, came with PM Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif at the table — underscoring the weight of the message. “The member states strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025,” the declaration read, while also denouncing attacks in Pakistan’s Khuzdar and on the Jaffer Express earlier this year. Official sources said the first thing the PM did after landing in Delhi from China was to dial the Punjab CM. “Immediately after landing in Delhi, the PM called up CM Bhagwant Mann to discuss the situation arising out of the rain and flooding in Punjab. He assured the state of all help,” the sources said. The PM is also likely to soon hold a meeting with the Centre’s inter-ministerial teams to review the situation in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The phone call came a day after CM Mann wrote to the PM seeking the release of the state’s pending dues of Rs The floods have so far claimed 29 lives in Punjab, the maximum in Pathankot district, besides impacting the lives of over 2.56 lakh people, officials said on Monday. Trump, in a post on social media, termed the trade ties between the two countries “one-sided disaster”, saying the Indian offer should have come “years ago”. India has not given a formal response to Trump’s claim. Senior counsel Rakesh Dwivedi, representing the poll panel, however, told a Bench led by Justice Surya Kant that The month-long period to demand inclusion and deletion of names from the electoral rolls of Bihar ended on Monday, with more than 36,000 electors filing pleas to get names added while over 2.17 lakh demands have been made for the removal of names. such claims and objections filed beyond the deadline would be considered after finalisation of the electoral rolls.
