Those arrested included Aprildeep Singh, alias Babbu, Gurlal Singh, alias Pannu, and Balraj Singh, all residents of Rajoke border village. DSP Gurinderpal Singh Nagra said as per a preliminary probe, the weapons were smuggled from Pakistan via drones. “The accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through WhatsApp and other social media platforms,” he said. He said duo was produced in a court, which sent them to police custody. The police sent their mobile phones for forensic examination, which would help in identifying backward and forward linkages. Charanjit Singh Teja Tribune News Service Amritsar, November 3 The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has issued a formal notice to the Namdhari Shaheedi Smarak in Amritsar for carrying out unauthorised construction activity within the prohibited zone of the ASI-protected monument, Ram Bagh, also known as Ram Bagh Deodi. According to the notice issued by the ASI Sub-Division, Amritsar, officials found that a new shed was being constructed barely 20 metres from the boundary of the protected site during an inspection on October 6, 2025. The area falls within the 100-metre “prohibited zone” of the historic Ram Bagh monument, where any form of construction, renovation or repair work is strictly banned under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958, and its subsequent amendments. We have come across some clues and hope to crack the case soon.” Noted gangster Harry Chatha, who is on the run, took responsibility for the crime in a social media post. “Anybody who works against us will meet the same fate. We know Deep Cheema was an acquaintance of Donny Bal so we killed him,” read Chatha’s post. Donny Bal is also a gangster, who operates in the area. The growing animosity between the Harry Chatha and Donny Bal gangs is worrying the cops. A police officer said yesterday’s incident was all about “turf wars happening among gangsters in Batala”. Two held with illegal arms in Tarn Taran Our Correspondent Tarn Taran, November 3 A police party, led by Manjinder Singh, ASI, Sarhali police station, arrested two persons with illegal weapons near Kheda village here on Sunday. Asi Manjinder Singh said the accused have been identified as Jobanjit Singh Joban, a resident of Mehindipur (Valtoha), and Jasbir Singh, alias Raghu, a resident of Davinder Nagar, Amritsar. The police recovered two pistols and four rounds along with magazines from their possession. The accused were carrying these weapons to hand them over to buyers in the area. A case under Sections 25, 25 (8) and 54 of the Arms and Ammunition Act.
