She plays one of the six sisters, who come together for a giddha competition in London. Sheeba says, “The title perfectly represents us sisters — sharp, crisp and full of energy. While the original song was a hit, even the remake is happy and peppy.” Dressed in a blue-and-gold suit, Sheeba — a Mumbaikar at heart — brought her Punjabi spirit to the role. “My Punjabi was a bit rusty, but on the sets I gained both confidence and fluency. I play a chef and though it was my first time performing giddha, years of dance practice made it a cakewalk.” Sheeba adds, “It felt like everything was planned and destined. We shot in London, the weather was amazing, and our director Parveen Kumar made sure we captured every nook and corner — so audiences will get the real taste of London in the film!” Though she doesn’t have a sister in real life, she values the bond deeply. “My mother has played many roles in my life; a sister is just one of them.” The cast’s chemistry on set was equally vibrant. Mannat Singh, Upasana Singh, Kulraj Randhawa, Kamaljit Neeru and Twinkle Saggu play the other sisters. The film is a remake of the Marathi hit Baipan Bhari Deva. She watched the original and says, “The Punjabi remake brings a different vibrancy and colour, while the emotions remain the same.” Sheeba highlights the message behind the film, “For too long, women neglect their parents or siblings while busy taking care of their husbands, children and in-laws, losing themselves in the process. Our film is a reminder that women must not forget their dreams and desires.” Badaa Karara Pudnais now running in cinemas. c m y b Netflix movie KPop Demon Hunters and APT. by Rose and Bruno Mars.
