CHANDIGARH | SATURDAY | 11 APRIL 2026 PAPA, 5 MINUTES AUR. That’s how it always started. Five more minutes on court. Five more smashes. Papa would wait. Sometimes tired, sometimes worried. But always there. In India, dreams belong not just to children. But to families. To mothers who pack extra tiffins. To fathers who adjust everything quietly. Mine did too. There were no shortcuts. Only early mornings, long evenings. And a promise that I won’t stop halfway. Today, when people see rankings, medals, they don’t see those five extra minutes. If you’re a parent reading this, your belief is more powerful than you think. And if you’re a girl holding a racket, ask for those five more minutes. They might just change your life. — Jasmeet Kaur We know that father. The one on the scooter outside the court, checking his watch but never calling her back. We know those five minutes are where a hobby turns into a calling. At TIDA, we don’t just coach; we make sure a parent's wait was never in vain. Jasmeet is heading to Europe because she never stopped asking for five more minutes - and we never stopped making sure every single one of them counted. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising four eminent persons as trustees.
The Tribune, the largest selling daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the paper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
The English edition apart, the 133-year-old Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
