In Tamil Nadu, actor-politician Vijay’s TVK made a stunning debut as the single largest party, finishing shy of the half-way mark. Kerala saw a sharp political reset with the country’s last Left government being voted out by the Congress after 10 years, while the BJP opened its account with three seats. Puducherry saw the return of the NDA govt. 206 81 The BJP looted over 100 seats. It is an immoral victory. Whatever EC did is illegal. The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising four eminent persons as trustees.
The Tribune, the largest selling daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the paper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
The English edition apart, the 133-year-old Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
