Sources said the third assailant was at large. Sunny fired 13 rounds at the cashier from a sophisticated pistol. The weapon used in the crime is yet to be recovered. The police tracked the accused’s location to Rajouri (Jammu & Kashmir). The sources confirmed that both assailants were being brought to Chandigarh. Police teams of different states were involved in this massive manhunt, which finally ended at a village in Rajouri district. The sources said one of the accused was already under the radar of the Jammu & Kashmir police for threatening a relative of a police officer. “The digital footprints of the accused were tracked closely. The police have also rounded up some individuals, who arranged the weapons. One of them is stated to be associated with the Rohit Godara gang. The two accused, Deepesh of Charkhi Dadri and Yogesh of Bhiwani, were arrested after an encounter in the industrial area near Alipur, under the Barwala post of the Chandimandir police station. They allegedly opened fire on the crime branch team while trying to flee. A .32-bore Beretta pistol and two rounds were recovered from them. With their arrest, all four accused in the case, including Ashish and Viren, who were arrested on Tuesday, have been nabbed within 48 hours of the registration of the FIR. According to the police, Yogesh had been in touch with the Rohit Godara gang and had allegedly supplied weapons used in a firing incident in Gurugram last year. Deepesh already has FIRs registered against him in Gurugram for kidnapping and physical assault. According to the FIR registered at the Pinjore police station, the complainant, Manjinder Singh, a resident of Power House Colony, HMT, Pinjore, was kidnapped by four men in a black Scorpio near Gauri Shankar Temple on the evening of June 15 while he was returning home after refuelling his scooter. The group drove him around, skipped paying toll at Barwala and robbed him of Rs 12,000 besides making some online payments continued on page 2 Ola cabs pushed off UT roads for six months Tribune News Service Chandigarh, June 17 The Chandigarh Administration on Wednesday suspended the aggregator licence of ANI Technologies Pvt Ltd, popularly known as Ola Cabs, with immediate effect for a period of six months, effectively barring Ola-operated cabs and bike taxis from functioning in the Union Territory till December. The Administration has not yet publicly detailed the specific grounds behind the sixmonth suspension of Ola’s licence. It has urged residents to rely on alternative authorised transport platforms and public transport services to avoid inconvenience. In an order issued this evening, the State Transport Authority directed all vehicle owners attached to the Ola platform not to operate or accept ride bookings through the application within Chandigarh. The Administration warned that any vehicle found violating the order would face challaning and impounding, while commuters have been advised not to book rides through the Ola app and instead use other registered aggregators. Over the past week, drivers associated with Ola, Uber and InDrive had launched a series of protests and partial strikes across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, affecting an estimated 50,000 commuters.
