With their arrest, the police claimed to have dismantled a cross-border and inter-state network involved in the supply of illegal arms, methamphetamine and fake Indian currency notes. During intelligence-led raids in Tarn Taran and Amritsar districts of Punjab, the city police teams arrested Akash Kumar, alias Mani, Sachin Silvester and Gurmeet Singh, alias Badshah. Dharminder Singh, alias Goli, alias Balwinder Singh, alias HSZ, the alleged kingpin currently lodged in Kapurthala Jail, was formally arrested on a production warrant. Tribune News Service Chandigarh, July 8 The Punjab Government has notified a significantly enhanced land pooling policy for the Greater Mohali area, offering bigger developed plots, a free conveyance deed, a doubled Sahuliyat Certificate validity of four years and oustee quota residential plots at scheme price to all landowners irrespective of whether they opted for cash or plots. The Tribune had first reported on April 13 that the Punjab Government had taken an inprinciple decision to revise its land pooling policy with precisely these enhancements. It simultaneously amended the Oustee Policy-2013 to extend oustee plot benefits to all farmers, including those who opted for cash compensation. The enhanced policy, applicable across the entire Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) jurisdiction with immediate effect, revised plot entitlements upward across all land use categories. Under the residential category, GMADA will now return 1,000 square yards of residential plots per acre, unchanged, but the commercial SCO component has been increased from 200 square yards to 210 square yards per acre. Janki Das, a 45-year-old pharmacy cashier at Shri Kumar Medical Hall in Sector 11, was shot multiple times inside the chemist shop on June 13. Earlier, the police had arrested the three shooters and uncovered the involvement of Canada-based gang handlers. The latest breakthrough, the police said, exposed a larger criminal infrastructure that allegedly facilitated the murder by arranging weapons, logistics, finances and safe houses while simultaneously operating a narco-terror and counterfeit currency network with cross-border links. According to the investigation, Dharminder Singh, who is facing 32 criminal cases, including murder, extortion and offences under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act, allegedly directed the conspiracy from jail. The police said Gurmeet Singh arranged accommodation and logistics for the two shooters, who had arrived from Jammu, supplied them with illegal firearms and got the weapons test-fired before the Sector 11 murder.
