According to information, Kulwinder Kaur, a resident of Hoshiarpur, had lodged a complaint with the police. He said some unknown people contacted her over phone and promised to provide her a job in a private airlines in Adampur. They allegedly took Rs 2.20 lakh from her for the same. Afterwards, neither they provided her a job nor returned her money. A case has been registered. oc Co-op society secy booked for fraud Our Correspondent Garhshankar, May 6 On the complaint of an Inspector of Co-operative Societies, Mahilpur police on Friday booked Jatinder Kumar, Secretary, Multipurpose Cooperative Agriculture Society, Mazara Dingrian, allegedly for embezzling over ~7 crore (7,14,96,070). The Hoshiarpur SSP was submitted a complaint by the Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Garhshankar, on March 9 last year in this regard. He had alleged that Jatinder Kumar, a resident of Mazara Dingrian, who was the secretary in the cooperative society’s bank, had embezzled the money and not given any account of the society. He said this amount included ~4 crore deposited by members and non-members in the form of FD. It was not deposited by him in their accounts. In this regard, search warrants were issued by the SDM, Garhshankar, under the Act so that the records could be checked. After police investigation, a case was registered against Jatinder Kumar at the Mahilpur police station. Tribune News Service Jalandhar, May 6 The Kapurthala police on Thursday solved the blind murder case of a store owner who had been killed on May 4. As per the police investigation, the victim was murdered over a dispute related to a diesel generator between two persons. The accused, Satish Kumar, was nabbed by the police on Thursday as he was trying to escape from Bhulla Rai Chowk. Krishan Kumar Bhalla, the deceased, who worked at the Bhalla Diesel Engine Spare Parts store on Railway Road in Phagwara, had been murdered on May 4. As per deceased’s brother Darshan Kumar Bhalla’s statement to the police on May 4, an FIR was registered under Section 302 of the IPC at the Phagwara police station on the basis of his complaint. Darshan told the police that on the ill-fated day of his brother’s murder, Krishan had gone to his shop as usual. However, an owner of a nearby store, on visiting the victim’s store, saw Krishan missing from his counter. During investigation, a police team at the Sabzi Mandi, Phagwara, received a tipoff, after which they acted and traced the accused from Bhulla Rai Chowk. The police said Satish Kumar, a resident of Lambi Gali, Palahi Gate, Phagwara, had hired a diesel generator from a Banga man. He had asked the deceased, Krishan, to sell the generator. Krishan bought it from Satish for Rs 13,500 and sold it off for Rs 24,000 to an unidentified person. But the Banga resident was asking him to return it. The police said Satish used to go to Krishan’ shop repeatedly and was miffed at Krishan for selling the diesel generator at prices higher than the former had received. Satish went to Krishan’s store on May 4 and pulled him to latter’s cabin in the store where he inflicted cuts on him with a knife due to which he died on the spot. The accused, during investigation, confessed to the crime. Civil Surgeons of both Jalandhar and Kapurthala issued advisories in this regard today. The Central Department of Health and Family Welfare, GoI, has also issued an advisory on the prevention of hot winds that blow in the north Indian region in summers. Giving information in this regard, Kapurthala Civil Surgeon Gurinderbir Kaur said a meeting of top officials of all states was convened last month in which it was feared that this time summers would be hotter than last year in view of which an advisory had been issued. Kapurthala Civil Surgeon Gurinderbir Kaur appealed to the public to take special care of the elderly and children as they were more prone to heat stroke in summers. She said exposure to high outdoor and indoor temperatures could cause illness. Jalandhar Civil Surgeon Ranjit Ghotra said if the tempratures exceed 40°C, it causes a heat wave in the region. Exposure to such heat by a human being destabilises the temperature of the body and becomes a cause for heat-related health problems. He said the heat wave causes greater damages to newborn babies, pregnant women, people of over 65 years of age, physically ill people, etc. He advised all people to pay extra attention to their diet and eat green vegetables and fruits. An important meeting of all programme officers was called by Gurinderbir Kaur. Addressing the meeting, the Civil Surgeon instructed the officials that drinking water should be provided at all government hospitals and fans and coolers should be in working condition. In case of power outage, the hospitals should have generator facility so that patients does not face any problems. She said the patients visiting the hospital should be made aware of the summer advisory and also the ORS and other essential medicines should be available in the hospitals so that they could be provided to the patients in case of need. All programme officers were directed to tell the people coming to the OPD to try not to leave the house between 12 noon and 3 pm. If you have to go out of the house for some important work, you should cover your head and drink water and take a bottle of water with you. Drink water every 20 minutes. Keep drinking water, lemonade, lassi and other liquids. Include seasonal fruits and vegetables in diet. Jalandhar, May 6 Forest Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Friday directed officials to send a proposal for converting the Ropar-Phagwara four-lane highway into a green corridor in the state. During inspection of 29,856 saplings planted on both sides of the 80-km stretch of the Ropar-Phagwara fourlane highway, the Forest Minister said the department would carry out more plantation, beautification and landscaping works along the national highway. Kataruchak also asked the forest officials to make a comprehensive policy to plant ornamental trees and Sheesham on both sides of the stretch to give it an aesthetic look. Sewa kendras to stay open 7 days Tribune News Service Nawanshahr, May 6 In view of the high footfall of applicants, all sewa kendras will continue to operate seven days a week in Nawanshahr till the next orders. The decision has been taken for the convenience of the public. Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said from Monday to Friday, sewa kendras would work from 8 am to 6 pm. Staff would work according to rosters prepared. Duty roster 1 staff would work from 8 am to 4 am and their lunch timings would be 12 pm to 12.30 pm. Duty roster 2 staff would work from 10 am to 6 pm and their lunch timings would be 2 pm to 2.30 pm. The DC said 100 per cent counters would remain open for the public from 10 am to 4 pm and 50 per cent counters would open in between 8 am and 10 am and 4 pm and 6 pm. On Saturday and Sunday, kendras would work from 8 am to 4 pm. Staff coming under duty roster 1 would work from 8 am to 4 am and their lunch timings would be 12 pm to 12.30 pm. Fifty per cent counters would open during these timings.
