Two other suspects, Vikram alias Nihang Baba and Kali, managed to flee the scene. All three are allegedly members of the infamous Kannu Gujjar gang and were reportedly in the area to deliver a drug consignment. The operation was led by the CIA staff and was based on the precise intelligence. As the police closed in on the suspects, who were in a car and a scooter, the situation escalated. A CCTV footage gone viral shows Vikram, dressed in a blue T-shirt, sprinting through the streets with officers in civvies chasing them. The chase quickly turned violent, with three rounds of gunfire exchanged between the officers and the smugglers. As per information, the police were tracking the suspects the moment they entered the city yesterday. However, as they neared Lajpat Nagar, the smugglers grew suspicious of being followed and opened fire, prompting the police to return it. During the opera- tion, a suspect, identified as Sunny Vehmi, was arrested. Sunny, a resident of Kishanpura, Jalandhar, was found carrying 100 gram of heroin. Following his arrest, an FIR was registered under the NDPS Act. During the investigation, three additional suspects were identified — Honey Kalyan of Abadpura and brothers Money and Neeraj Sabharwal of Basti Gujjan, Jalandhar. Polytechnic college guard found hanging in room Jalandhar, August 29 A security guard, working at Mehr Chand Polytechnic College here, died by suicide after hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his room on the college premises on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Shiv Nath. The college authorities got to know about the incident on Thursday morning when the guard didn’t turn up for his duty. When other security personnel went to his room, he was found hanging from a ceiling fan. The college authorities immediately informed the police about the incident and declared a holiday for students to avoid any panic-like situation on the campus. After receiving the information, the police from Division Number 1 reached the college for investigation and sent the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
