MC lodges plaint against damage to new roads in Mahaveer Enclave Ludhiana, May 30 Seeking strict action against violators involved in damaging public property, the Municipal Corporation (MC) has submitted a police complaint against damage to newly constructed roads/streets in Mahaveer Enclave, Barewal. In the complaint submitted to the Sarabha Nagar police station, officials stated that the civic body received a complaint against damaging of newly constructed roads in Mahaveer Enclave. On conducting an inspection by senior civic body officials, it was found that some Ludhiana, May 30 A massive road show was held on Friday by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), followed by filing of nomination by its candidate Sanjeev Arora for the Ludhiana West bypoll. The road show started from Aarti Chowk and went through Ghumar Mandi. Afterwards, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann left the place. Later, the AAP candidate along with Aman Arora reached the DC’s office in the Mini-Sec- CM Mann, Kejriwal take part in event, Sanjeev Arora files nomination retariat for the filing of nomination papers. Sonia Grewal, a commuter who got stuck in a traffic jam on Ferozepur Road, said it was only a bypoll and look the way political parties were splurging on roadshows and campaigning. “It is only people who are facing inconvenience due to such roadshows. I had an unidentified person had damaged a portion of street number 2-A while driving some heavy vehicle in the area. Further, a large portion of street number 9 had also been damaged due to ongoing construction works in a plot. The owner of the plot was getting some digging work done on his plot. During the work, they damaged the newly constructed road. In the complaint submitted with the police, the civic body officials have sought strict legal action against violators for damaging the public property. — TNS Bypoll: Three file June 17-19, 23 papers on Day 5 dry days in Ludhiana West Ludhiana, May 30 A total of three nomination papers were filed on the fifth day of nominations for the Ludhiana West assembly constituency byelection. Disclosing this, Chief Electoral Officer Punjab, Sibin C, said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Sanjeev Arora and his covering candidate Kavya Arora submitted their nomination papers on Friday. In addition, an Independent candidate, Chandan, also filed his nomination. With these, the total number of nomination papers filed so far has reached eight. Nomination papers can also be submitted on Saturday. The last date for filing nominations is June 2 while the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on June 3. — TNS Ludhiana, May 30 In accordance with the Election Commission’s guidelines and to ensure a fair and orderly electoral process, Punjab Excise Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal has declared dry days from June 17 (6 pm) to June 19 (6 pm) and June 23 (Monday) during the counting of votes in the Ludhiana West assembly constituency and its 3-km adjoining areas. Jorwal has mandated strict compliance with the orders, prohibiting the sale, distribution and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the specified areas during the designated periods. All establishments concerned are directed to enforce the restrictions diligently. The polling for the Ludhiana West byelection will be held on June 19 and counting of votes on June 23. — TNS Setback to AAP as councillor, Gogi’s nephew join Cong Ludhiana, May 30 In a major setback to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Satnam Singh Sunny Master, a sitting councillor from Ward 58, which falls in the Ludhiana West Assembly segment, on Friday joined the Congress. He was inducted into the party by former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Rana Gurjit, Bharat Bhushan Ashu and others. Besides, Karan Warring, a senior BJP leader, and Paramvir Singh, nephew of the late MLA Gurpreet Gogi, also joined the Congress. Earlier, Vikramjit Singh, the social media in-charge of AAP for the Malwa region, also joined the Congress in presence of Congress general secretary in charge of Punjab Bhupesh Baghel and the PPCC president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring. Sunny Master said he was completely disillusioned with AAP after seeing it from inside. They were all fake revolutionaries. He said he was disturbed over the way the AAP leadership was handing over posts and positions, which were the right of Punjabis, to people from Delhi and other places. Karan Warring said it was homecoming for him as his family had been with the Congress for generations. He appealed to BJP and Akali supporters, not to waste their votes and support Ashu to defeat the outsiders’ party, the AAP . Welcoming them into the party, Channi and Rana said it was a homecoming for them. Channi said it was not an ordinary thing that a sitting councillor had left the ruling party and joined the opposition party.
