The head and legs were found on the bridge while other body parts were found near the railway tracks in a suitcase. A railway employee saw the suitcase lying near the railway tracks and informed the railway police. Later when Head, legs found on bridge; investigation on, say police police officials reached the scene for investigation, the head and legs were also found lying in a polythene bag on the bridge. Meanwhile, the Ludhiana police were also informed about the matter and the body parts were sent to the civil hospital. The police suspect that after killing the man, the miscreants cut him into pieces and put the body parts in a suitcase while the head and legs were thrown separately on the bridge. ACP (Crime) Raj Kumar said to crack the case, the police had started scanning footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area. Investigation was being done to find out who came to the area in vehicles since Wednesday night and soon, the case would be cracked. A case of murder was registered against unidentified persons. The ACP said cases of missing persons registered in the Commissionerate Police were also being checked and soon, the suspects would be arrested. 12 mobiles, tobacco sachets seized from Central Jail Ludhiana, April 11 A surprise checking conducted in the Ludhiana Central Jail has led to the recovery of 12 mobile phones and 20 sachets of tobacco. Assistant superintendent of the jail Bhiwam Tej Singla said on April 6, during the checking, 12 mobiles were recovered from inmates and tobacco sachets were found abandoned on the premises. The suspects were identified as Ravinder, Harmandeep, Neeraj and an unidentified inmate. A case has been registered. — TNS Pothole-ridden Beri Road still neglected, people suffer Harshraj Singh Tribune News Service Ludhiana, April 11 Though the people pay a lot of taxes to the government, they still have to face trouble while commuting on several bad roads in the city. One notable example is Beri Road, which connects the Damoria Bridge Direct MC to recarpet road: Residents to govt area with the women police station in Ludhiana. INDERJEET VERMA Despite repeated demands by residents, no action has been taken to address the serious issue. Some residents have pointed out that no efforts were made to repair potholes even on a temporary basis. Sometimes, two-wheel- er riders lose balance over their vehicles when they pass over the deep potholes. Residents have demanded that the government should direct the corporation to take measures to ensure the road was recarpeted. Sarabjit Singh Bunty, a businessman, said he usually passes through Beri Road. Massive potholes were inviting mishaps on the road due to the ignorance of the MC. He said the road leads to some religious places, the Vigilance Bureau office, and the women police station from the Damoria Bridge side, still, it continues to be neglected. “When the people pay huge taxes to the government, road infrastructure must be improved for the safety of commuters. Beri Road has been in bad shape for a few years. We appeal to the government to take measures to get the road repaired without c m y b any further delay,” he said. A resident of the area said: “It’s outrageous how we are burdened with taxes, yet the basic infrastructure is neglected. People even pay property tax to the MC still, we face inconveniences due to broken portions of Beri Road. At present, there is no elected councillor as the MC elections have not been held to date. Whom should we contact? The road must be repaired soon.” Meanwhile, MC’s Executive Engineer Surinder Singh said he would look into the matter and instruct the SDO concerned to take requisite measures. Highest attendance, questions mark MP Arora’s 2 years in RS Nitin Jain Tribune News Service Ludhiana, April 11 In what appears to be a record of sorts, Rajya Sabha MP from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora has registered highest attendance, raised maximum questions and participated in almost double the state average of debates in the Upper House of the Parliament. Besides, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member in the Rajya Sabha from Punjab brought a host of infrastructure development projects, as big as an international airport, and pushed for the overall development and progress of his native place Ludhiana. The sexagenarian parliamentarian also excelled on the philanthropy front by adopting three district hospitals for undertaking their complete revamp and upgrade, besides doling out much monetary and official help and support to the needy. This marked the two years of Arora in the Rajya Sabha. He was nominated unopposed in 2022 and was administered the oath as the Rajya Sabha member on April 10, 2022. “Including me, most were surprised when I was elected MP Sanjeev Arora boarded first flight to Delhi from Sahnewal in Sept last after getting it resumed following suspension three years ago.
