They were going on a bike from Ludhiana to Hoshiarpur. The arrested accused were identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of village Mehli, and Ravinder Kumar, a resident of village Mandhali. Superintendent of Police Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the police have recovered a snatched mobile and impounded their motorcycle used in the crime. Further investigation is on. OC CASE REGISTERED AFTER GAS LEAKS Phagwara : Following a complaint lodged by Vineet Kumar, regional head of the fuel company Think Gas, the police have registered a case against digging of land near a petrol pump along the national highway which led to gas leakage and created panic in the area. The employees of the company, however, succeeded in plugging the leak, thereby averting a major tragedy. The incident took place on September 15. No arrest has been made so far.OC MAN HELD FOR SELLING LIQUOR Phagwara : The Nakodar police have arrested a villager on the charge of selling illicit liquor. As many as 15 bottles of illicit country-made liquor were seized from the possession of the accused Kewal of Mahunwal village. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused. OC TRANSFORMER STOLEN, 2 BOOKED Phagwara: The police have booked two persons for stealing transformers from a farmer's field. The accused have been identified as Sagar and Arjan of Nangal village in Phillaur. Baljindar Singh of Poadharra village complained to the police that the accused stole a transformer from his fields. A case has been registered. OC MAN ARRESTED WITH HEROIN Phagwara: The police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling heroin. Ten gram of heroin was recovered from the possession of the accused Surjit, alias Seeta, of Shankar village in Nakodar. A case under Sections 21B/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and his motorcycle was impounded. DSP Jagir Singh said a resident of a village had lodged a complaint with the police that an unidentified person was calling the family members of his 15-year-old niece living in Canada and threatening them that he would defame her by sharing her obscene photos on social media. The deceased, identified as Gurvinder Singh, resident of Budhanwal village at Shahkot, and son of a watchman, died by suicide on the night of September 18, after hanging himself from a roof girder at his home at the village. Three persons, a Nakodar constable Raman, his wife Jyoti and Raman’s motherin-law, have been arrested by the police. A case under Section 108 of the BNS (abetment to suicide) was registered against the trio at police station at 11.40 pm last night. Kewal Singh (70), Gurvinder’s father, in his complaint to the police, said a false case had been registered against Gurvinder amid an ongoing household dispute between Gurvinder’s friend Raman and his wife Jyoti. The operation, aimed at improving road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations, was conducted under the supervision of Harjinder Singh, ACP Model Town. , The operation was carried out at key locations, including Manbrow Chowk and Model Town Market, on Thursday where nakas were laid to catch violators. Officers in collaboration with the Emergency Response System team, were deployed for the operation. Their primary objective was to ensure smoother traffic flow and safer roads for residents of the city by taking strict action against those flouting traffic rules. During the four-hour operation from 6pm to 10pm, 105 vehicles were checked. Of these, 12 vehicles were challaned for various violations. Villagers approached One arrested for murder of villager Jalandhar, September 20 The police today arrested a man accused of murdering Badhshahpur resident Harpreet Singh on September 17. Dilbagh Singh was one of the accused who murdered Harpreet Singh on September 17. Baldish Kaur, the daughter of the deceased Harpreet, had complained to the police that her father had gone to a street around 8 pm on September 17. When he returned at 10.30 pm, he was bleeding profusely. She alleged that her father told his family members that Dilbagh, Gurjit and Tejpal Singh of Badhshahpur had beat him up at village Sath. Head of the Hoshiarpur unit of Sarbat Da Bhala Trust Aagya Pal Singh Sahni said information was received over the phone from Dubai about his death. Sahni said with the help of the administration, his identity was established. The paperwork and other formalities were completed and Jatinder’s body brought back from Dubai. The state head of the Trust, Dr SP Singh Oberoi, was also informed. Jatinder’s father Harbans Singh worked as a labourer. Jatinder had gone to Dubai sometime back but could not find a good job there. On cloud nine Bath Castle owners get MC notice for ~1.58 crore dues Jalandhar, September 20 The Municipal Corporation sent a notice to the owners of renowned Bath Castle and asked them to pay Rs 1.58 crore for the regularisation. In 2017, then MC Commissioner had given approval for the regularisation of Bath Castle and asked to pay an amount for the same. The owners paid first instalment, but then failed to do so. Now, the building department of the Municipal Corporation has sent a notice to the owners to pay the amount along with interest. An official from the civic body said they would seal the castle if they did not receive the payment. Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal 2 held for theft in Amrit Vihar Jalandhar, September 20 The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has cracked a case of theft in the city by arresting two persons and recovering valuables from them. Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma said Kanchan, a resident of house number 226, Mohalla Amrit Vihar, on September 20 filed a complaint that she had locked her house and went to the RTA office. When she returned home in the evening, she found that the door of the lobby of her house was damaged, the locks of cupboards inside the house were broken and gold and silver ornaments and Rs 60,000 were stolen from the house. The CP said during investi- gation, the police identified the accused as Surinder Singh of Menva village in Kapurthala and Jagbir Singh, alias Jagga, of Amritsar. He said the police arrested both accused and recovered two pairs of gold earrings, Rs 10,000 and a vehicle (PB 65 AG 9129) used in the incident.
