He has been identified as Kulwinder Singh of village Boot, Kapurthala. A police party during patrolling from Kharbuja Mandi arrested Kulwinder Singh and seized 100 gram of heroin. During interrogation, as per revelations made by Kulwinder, the police recovered 400 gram of heroin. TNS 3 ARRESTED FOR STEALING BIKES Phagwara: The police have arrested three miscreants for stealing motorcycles. The accused have been identified as Sajan, Jogindar Pal, both residents of Chak Vendal village, and Buta Singh of Chak Peer Pur village. The accused were indulging in stealing motorcycles. A motorcycle was recovered from them. OC TWO HELD IN DOWRY CASE Phagwara: The police have arrested two members of a family in a dowry harassment case. The accused are Manjit Kumar of Mohalla Ravidas Pura, Phillaur, and his mother Amarjit Kaur. Manju of Beer Pind village had filed a complaint to the police, that her in-laws harassed her for dowry. OC Streetlights, sewer cleaning in BJP’s 11-point manifesto Aparna Banerji Tribune News Service Jalandhar, December 16 Two days after AAP released its vision document for the MC poll, the BJP today released its manifesto for the upcoming elections in Jalandhar on Monday. Alleging that the Congress tenure was full of corruption, BJP leaders said the probe into smart city scam was unlikely to yield results now as Congress leaders, who perpetrated it, have joined AAP . AAP was protecting the culprits of the scam. The key promises in the BJP’s 11-point manifesto titled “Jalandhar da vishwas, jitthe Modi otthe vikas”, included cleaning of sewage pipelines in Jalandhar, removal of overhanging electricity wires and replacement with underground wiring, streetlighting, road safety, stringent fogging to prevent disease, cleaning of drains, clean drinking water, provision of rainwater harvesting projects, environment conservation, etc. BJP leader KD Bhandari, addressing a press conference, blamed the previous Congress tenure and its leaders for the poor state of civic amenities in BJP leaders release election manifesto for the MC polls in Jalandhar. CM’s picture outside ADC’s office defies poll code Jalandhar, December 16 Even as it has been eight days since the MC elections were announced and code of conduct came into force, the hoardings bearing the pictures of CM Bhagwant Mann have not been removed even from within the District Administrative Complex. A 10-foot wide hoarding with a congratulatory message for Republic Day and a big picture of the CM hangs outside the office of ADC Budhi Raj Singh, who is the key officer for conducting elections. Besides, there are other hoardings also in and around the complex which have not been removed. Sumit Singh, a visitor in the complex, said, “If the administration has not checked code violation in its own complex, how will it make sure that there is no violation in the rest of the city.” District Election Officer Himanshu Aggarwal said, “We are ensuring that there is no hoarding anywhere publicising any scheme of the government as per the directions. We will check this hoarding and see if it is to be removed. To check the hoardings being put up by the candidates, our media monitoring teams and complaint cell are already in place.” — TNS AAP candidate Varesh Mintu suffered serious spinal injuries. AAP candidate hurt during canvassing Wife, leaders take over his campaign Tribune News Service Jalandhar, December 16 Having had a fall during his door-to-door campaign two days ago, AAP candidate from Ward no 40 Varesh Mintu has suffered spinal injuries and has been advised a complete bed rest for 15 days. Ex-councillor Mintu remained hospitalised for two days after which he has now returned home but he cannot move his head, neck and back. “I was going for a campaign on Saturday in a house where some granite work was being done. A slab fell on my head after which my lower body got completely numb. I was immediately rushed to a hospital. The doctors told me that I had suffered an injury in head, neck and my third vertebra and the only treatment for this was a complete bed rest”, he said. With a collar around his neck and lying on a motorised bed at his place, Mintu said he was hurt but not morally shattered. “Now that I cannot go out, my supporters and well-wishers are coming to my place and telling me to relax and take rest. They have said they will all campaign for me and ensure my victory. I have been hearing such supporting statements by voters of my ward. They have helped me get away with the initial panic which had gripped me post the accident”, he said. Mintu, who had left the BJP to join AAP said his wife , Rajni had started going out and meeting people. Atul Bhagat, son of minister Mohinder Bhagat, too has come to my aide and taken over the campaign.
